Getting in on someone elses ticket

I am really sorry if this has already been discussed before but I couldnt find a particular thread using the search facility.

I bought my tickets along with all our groups way back in the depths of last year. However one of our group is now unable to go. My partners son who is a cash stapped student would love to go and it seems so unfair.

We were thinking of offering him the opportunity to try and get in on the now not required ticket. Obviously it is a high risk strategy and is ripe for dissapointment. But as he hasnt got anything else on at the time he may think it is worth the risk.

I know people did it last year and was just wondering if anyone could offer some advice. My thoughts are:-

What would be the best time to try - busy/quiet

Do they keep the ticket if they stop you and dont let you in

Would the police get involved

Any blagging techniques that have worked

Sun glasses any use

By the way he looks nothing like the guy on the photo

Thanks in advance for any help.

Why not have a try with the festival office? Can't be the first time it has happened and if you can pursuade them that it's a genuine case and not a touting scam then why not give it a go? Would probably help no end if your partner's son is already registered though.

Good luck anyway and hope you sort it out. Btw, the checking at the gate seemed pretty thourough to me last year so would be risky to leave it to the day I reckon.

I'd have thought if he looks nothing like him then you are taking a major risk.

then again nothing ventured nothing gained, just got to decide if it's worth the risk going all the way down for the lad to be refused entry.

I think it's the luck of the draw really, whether you have to get past consciencious staff or not. I'd say it's worth a go as long as if he doesn't get in the rest of you won't let it put too much of a downer on things...

Pity it's a he rather than a she.....otherwise (s)he could have worn a Burka. No-one at the gate is going to risk a major diplomatic incident by asking your mate to remove her Burka. You could claim a sex change AND a conversion to fundamentalist Islam....

I got in with a ticket i bought from ebay last year. I looked nothing like this guy so i wore a cap and everytime i had to show my ticket , which was only twice if i remember correctly , i made sure i accidently on purpose dropped some of the bags i was carrying to stop them seeing my face properly. It worked so i would say definitely give it a go. There s nothing to lose and its Glastonbury after all.

Good Luck

Tell See Tickets there has been a mix-up with the photo, and it is a photo of someone you don't know. They may send a new ticket out!?

If not, save a copy of said e-mail if he gets pulled up and say that See Tickets didn't reply, so you didn't know what to do. The fact that all the rest of the group are the people on the tickets, I reckon you'll be OK.

And handing over £20 with a ticket is a sure fire way of briging there attention to the ticket...probably not wise

Just tell him to play it cool man. Try his best to divert their attention away from the ticket, speak to the people taking the tickets, ask them are they excited, how many hours they have to work. I think a good idea is to make up a name and pretend this made up name is working Glasto and then ask the person collecting tickets does he know him, genuine question and makes you appear more genuine.

i know i've read on here that when people have gone back out to their car but lost their ticket/pass out/whatever some of them have been taken off and 'grilled' on their personal details - ( i can't remember the exact details and can only think of address and postcode and stuff, think they might have mentioned something like other streets/landmarks near their address or something?! maybe worth searching for that thread).

anyway, what i'm trying to say is, swot up on the personal details of the person the ticket belongs to.

but, before that, i'd go with the suggestion above to get in touch with see and say there's been a mistake with the picture. got to be worth a shot?! good luck, i know we're not meant to try to 'get around the system' but i don't see how the festival or anyone else is getting ripped off in any way here

bs x

edit: found it! not sure how to link to another thread but it's here: /index.php?showtopic=116871&hl=anyone+lost+ticket+park">http://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/index.p...ost+ticket+park

specific post (now that i've read it back i'm not sure it helps your cause much, sorry):

Last year my friend went out and lost his ticket.

Basically the way he got back in was firstly he queued for about 2 hours

then they got him to go on the internet and look up his reg number, from his email.

They matched his photo, asked him if he had the card he bought the ticket with, he didn't but knew who bought the ticket. They also asked him loads of questions about where he was camped inside, who he was camped with, which bands he had seen, where he had eaten etc. the names of the other people who had tickets bought at the same time as him, they went on google maps and asked him to name a road near his house, then asked him to find that road, then go from that location to his house. There was probably more, that I can't remember.

At the end they gave him another wristband round his other wrist (the retard band as we called it) then let him in.

Last year my sister broke her foot and couldn't go.

We contacted the Festival office who basically said 'tough'. We should have bought insurance.

My friend (who incidently looks nothing like my sister) came with me and used the ticket. I held on to both tickets each time we went in and out and always put my ticket on top and she walked through ahead of me handing in the tickets. Worked a treat!

We live nearby and went home each night and back in every morning - so we actually had our tickets checked 6 times in total.
