i thought id start a threat for people to add there festival tips on

for instance all my time at festivals have taught me these things that help the festival go along nicely..

* take a pack of anti bac toilet wipes just incase you need to sit down (keep in handbag/backpack)

*a scented tissue is a handy thing to have in a bag (hold to nose when going to loos)

* anti bac hand gel is a festival must

* take you own bottle for filling with tap water when your about the site.

* if your not going back to the tent to dark have a mini torch in your pocket (helps you not trip over the guide lines of tents.. also you can help others not trip which often leads to being invited to go sit with them and have drinks)

*take some food bags and put money phone etc in it on a night and tie it up tight.. this way if your tent floods your important stuff stays dry

*put your moeny etc in the bottom of your sleeping bag when your sleeping .. stops them being taken if your to wasted to ehar someone else coming into your tent

*duck tape fixes everything

* take an empty pillowcase - then stuff loads of clothes in it - saves you taking a pillow.

If your taking your kids write your mobile number on there arm in that Henna dye along with a message 'ring this number is you find me lost' !!, or something like that.

Can also be used if you have friends who get completely wasted and get lost all the time

Its great stuff because it wont wash off.

You can never emphasize enough, duct tape, duct tape, duct tape. It solves everything

Also

*rehydration tablets, really good for relieving hangovers

*barocca, or something similar, helps stop get glasto diseases and relieve hangovers (notice a theme??)

*condoms, this might seem fairly simple, but last year i discovered a fantastic trick. When you wake up, fill the condom with as much water as possible (you would be suprised how much they can) then place it on a piece of black tarpaulin (or something black), and leave it outside the tent all day. When you come back, strip off (at your discretion) and use the, by then, warm water for a mini shower, just to get rid of the grime. Voila!

When packing, bear in mind that you probably won't need all of those clothes. But you definitely will need more socks than you think you will.

A head torch is a godsend

Jeans are pointless in the rain - skin, or tights/leggings, dry much more quickly. Also tights/leggings prevent welly rub.

Even taking a bit of your own booze will save you SO much money to spend on other things.

It gets surprisingly cold at night so if you feel the cold you might want a hat and some gloves for partying at the stone circle.

And even if the forecast is grim, DON'T forget suncream!! Trying to sleep in a tent with sunburned shoulders is the most painful thing ever...

I second the money in sleeping bag comment and the glove comment.

Would also like to add if you don't use the lock ups or just happen to have more cash on you than you thought and decide to leave it in your tent, don't leave it all in the same place. I always make sure that if I do have cash in my tent, I spread it around inside various items of clothing. That way if someone does brake in, they will be unlikely to get all my cash. Of course you really should use the lock ups though!

Also, in addition to the gloves, bring a winter hat and scarf. It really does get cold out in the country at night. I always forget just how cold until I am there!

One for the lads.....If you need a slash and your standing in the middle of a massive crowd watching a set, grab a paper cup off the floor and relieve yourself into it(no one will notice). After be sure to place it back on the floor so you dont drip it on anyone.

Take your loo roll in one of those zippy plastic lunch bags thingies and then it wont get soggy if it rains or if you need to put it down when you're trying to hover over the loo seat and theres a lot of spillage around etc.

Defo take a hat and something warm for the nights out and about. it gets much colder than you might think even if its been warm all day. Take warm stuff to wear in bed too.

Great idea about taking a pillow case and filling it with clothes for a pillow - done that every time we've been - Go outdoors have some sort of camping pillow for cheap we might buy this year instead.

Take crisps, choc bars etc for snacks.

Long socks for if you need to wear wellies - we take boyfriends footie socks.

Take bin bags - used them when its been raining in the past to cover bedding and rucksacks in case the tent leaked, and great for rubbish obviously and putting your trainers/wellies on so you dont get mud everyhwere in your tent - everyone knows youve cant wear trainers/wellies in a tent!

Remember reading a tip on here a little while ago - take one of those S hook things with you, then when you get into a long drop, put it on the top of the door so you can hang your jacket up if you're thinking of spending a while in there.

Also, piece of string through your bogroll and put it around your neck.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
