hmmmm .... you say you stalk me, then ignore what I post. <_<

Did I or did I not post last week that I was going down with something? Yup. Flu. Evil it was - and still is - too.

And while I spent most of last week thinking "it might be swine flu", I suppressed that thought .... that is, until cases were confirmed in Bristol on Friday night......

I checked out what some sufferers of Swine Flu reported as their first symptoms - check - and other symptoms - check. So I phoned NHS direct, just being careful.....

They asked "had I been to mexico recently?". Nope.

They asked "had I been in contact with anyone that's been to mexico recently?". I have no idea - there's no one that I know of, but I've come into contact with more people than just those I know the movements of.

But according to the govts fantastic checking methods, it is apparently impossible for anyone not answering a straight "yes" to those questions to have swine flu .... which is plainly the most stupidly idiotic way to contain anything.

I decided to get myself checked by a doc anyway, about what I had rather than swine flu. Being a saturday, I ended up having to go to a locum service at the local hospital......

When you walk in it says "if you have flu type symtoms, do not enter, go home and ring NHS direct" .... who tell you to go to the hospital where it says you shouldn't go.

Then there's a sign saying "if you have flu-type symptoms you will be issued with a face-mask, and the doctor that examines you will wear a mask". Did they give me a mask? Nope. Did the doc wear a mask? Nope.

The doc asked me the same questions - had I been to mexico, did I know anyone that has?". He got the same answers.

He says "ahh well, it really doesn't matter. The symptoms are all the same, I could have seen tens of people today with swine flu, and no one seems to care".

The govt says "we have it all in hand". I say the whole system is the biggest joke going and they can't possibly have any idea who has it and who doesn't.

Whatever I've had, it really isn't nice, not nice at all. :)

    • When it comes to legacy alternative acts I hope they bring the Afghan Whigs. Those newly released songs are incredible and classic Whigs sound
    • We’ve a friend  who has hens and sells eggs for two quid for six. So much tastier than supermarket ones. She has an honesty box outside her house and has now expanded into selling them to hotels and the local butchers shop. Quite a decent wee business
    • Curiously a rumour has turned up that Barcelona are now interested in Rodri. So could make Real Madrid and Man City are suddenly both in need of a central midfielder.    ... Assuming this move to Arsenal for Bruno Guimaraes ends up being processed before those two may need to enter the conversation.
    • I think Thunderbolts probably had one of the more interesting villains for an MCU movie. I was actually a bit creeped out by Void. I'm a massive horror movie fan, and I can't think of another time in the last couple of years where a character legit scared me like he did.    Brand New Day was a good time. A great villain choice as it played into Parker's insecurities. Castle was a strange inclusion but the dynamic between him and Parker was great. Castle must have been delighted to have someone who never seen themselves as superior to him like Murdoch pretty much always did.
    • Certainly the fact Bruce had disasters at West Brom and Blackpool has hurt his chances. Maybe he'll go mentor his son now he's a manager at Rotherham.    Maybe the passive aggressive comment about Howe being "that fella who got Bournemouth relegated" also counts as it's own comment that aged very poorly.
