I sometimes stop and get a bottle of Sangria off them, if that's counted? Tend to find though that I end up swigging the red or sangria down in about 3 gulps!

PS> Hello everyone - I've been lurking for a long, long time, but for some reason decided to login again today (slow day at work). Carry On.

The red wine from the wine vans is foul, frankly! But the white is pretty good, as long as you consume it swiftly while it's still cold.

There is some seriously nice wine on sale at the West Pennard Vineyard stall (which is located along the path than runs from the Tiny Tea Tent along to Avalon) - all organic fruit wines - lovely!

The wine bars have 2 main purposes at a drizzly Glastonbury -

Mulled wine - the only one that tastes any good.

When you have trudged for half an hour through gloop to get from one stage to another, then there is nothing so certain to lift the spirits than turning a corner to find a whole troupe of soggy campers dancing along to a slightly imperfectly choreagraphed wine bar routine.

So regardless of taste - we all have a duty to support this fine institution in case of rain.

(Yes - I know it's not going to rain but don't anger the weather gods)

The wine tastes like rocket fuel but it's pretty much all I drink at Glastonbury for the following reasons...

* It comes on bottles with screw tops, much easier to carry than pints.

* You can carry enough to get you pissed while in a crowd. One bottle open and another bottle or two in your pockets.

* Drinking a litre of wine means far fewer piss breaks than the equivelant 6 or 7 pints or watered down beer tent lager. Again, useful in crowds.

* Much less queueing at beer tents too.

* After the first half a bottle it tastes fine anyway.
