End of discussion because you have no knowledge of the genre you are rubbishing, just as I have no knowledge of the genre you are championing. To dismiss an entire genre as 'a very poor attempt at music' shows absolutely no knowledge of the vast amount of innovation and variance within that genre. I could say the same about British Heavy Metal but it would be meaningless because, like you, I wouldn't have the first clue about the genre I was slagging off.

It's difficult to quantify "pure pop" though. I would say a lot of Tamla motown, Beach boys and Beatles were pure pop. Music for Kids, grownups etc. I'm not a great fan of PSB but to dismiss pop music wipes out an awful lot imo

Whitesnake were not part of the NWOBHM. Def Leppard were, but they changed into a hair band after Pyromania.

NWOBHM include for example Maiden, Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head, Motorhead and, erm, Saxon.

And Neil is right that the term was coined in the late 70s.

pinback you tease.

i'd prefer new order or even duran duran to the petshop boys, simply because i dont have any petshop boys in my music library, i'm not gareth keenan.

i think tugger means "manufactured pop" aswell, which, if the thing about them playing pre-recorded music and vocals is true, makes them not even a band imo.
