i'd love it to be exactly the same as last year

during the thursday night downpour we all huddled round under the gazebo at our tents, dressed up in all the gear with a little fire to keep us warm- any passers by invited in for a cider and spliff and just had a craic- it was a great night :D

  • we had a fantastic day wandering on wednesday then a great night at the stone circle

  • chilled and got stoned at the tents under the gazebo on thursday night after another big day of wandering

  • went for it big time on friday and saturday away from the pyramid

  • and set up half way back on the pyramid with all camping chairs etc and people came and went as they pleased on sunday

the best glasto i've had out of the 7 i've been too.....and that was helped sooooo much by the weather

more of the same this year please- no colder or wetter, and no hotter either

I've also just bought wellies, so it'll be dry for sure.

Every Glasto I've been to has been wet though. I couldn't make it last year as I was in Thailand. I knew then I was in the wrong place at the right time

Roll on June 24th

No rain for several reasons first the soil on site has a large clay content so it does not soak up water very easily. Secondly the site is in a valley so guess where all the water goes. Third the valley is covered in tents (which hopefully don’t hold much water) meaning the ground absorbs less water. Finally add 175000 people trudging round the site and you get a great big bowl of mud. You know the Eskimos have loads of different meanings of snow come to a couple of wet years and you will be the same with mud be it be the wet sloppy mud of 2007 and 1998 or the thick stick mud of 1997 you will come to realise why we demand no rain. It's a very slippery slope (no pun intended) from light showers to mud bath.

On re reading this I was probably a bit hard on Godders 1966...... sorry

Actually whilst saying "I didn't mind" the rain and mud of 07 would be an overstatement - I would also say I had my best Glastonbury ever that year! I think it was because I missed out on tickets in 2005 (fallow year 2006) and therefore valued it that bit more and was determined to party like it might be my last no matter what it threw at me! I had a fantastic time! I think it was hard for those who'd also suffered the start of 2005 and the end of 2004 and were thinking "when does it ever bloody stop?"!

Also - (I hope I have got the right person?) I am extremely happy and proud that Godders has moved from most constraversial line up thread starter, to knowing they'll have a ball whatever the weather. Thats a well done for Efests for passing on the Glastonbury power, and to Godders for sticking with us when we were foul!

    • I think this is the most likely scenario, an extension to their off-site offering in some form.
    • It's been pointed out to me that Just Mustard have issued a new graphic with all their summer dates including the Saturday of EOTR, where I had them down for Friday. I can see AdP subbing or third down Woods in that case, but then (and remembering we lost one potential name in Lucinda Williams) that leaves a gap for a good Garden headliner...
    • My daughter had a really disappointing arrival experience at Download Festival 2026. After arriving by coach, she waited hours for transport, she was taken to the wrong place twice, then left waiting again because shuttles refused her without wristbands, even though she hadn’t been taken to the wristband point. Staff seemed unprepared and unhelpful, and the delay caused a serious pain flare-up for her and meant refrigerated medication could no longer be used. The tent is now leaking too due to someone breaking it. We’ve emailed a complaint and are asking Download to acknowledge what happened and make it right.
    • That said they're playing the festival on the Friday and need to play Manchester Psych Fest the next day.    Could they play late at night and still make it comfortably in time...hmmm
    • Any thoughts or theories on the secret set. I’m hoping for Dillinger.
