In RHCP's case I dont see how you could argue differently. In terms of Lyrics it's an unquestionable step up, and they have become some of the best players in 'stadium music' again unquestionably. I dont see how my opinion of it being 'their most acomplished album' is 'comedy genius'. I didn't know I was that funny.

American Idiot was a massive departure from Greendays typical sound, and it was brilliantly recieved. Whilst I say its arguable to say its the best punk album since london's calling, I cant even think of a 21st century punk album that comes close.

The only thing more dull than the prospect of Stone Roses playing would be if Morrissey were to play as well.

Chili Peppers are past it but their older stuff was awesome.

Green Day are being criticised because they made an album that lots of people bought and loved, which means that they are now not cool with the people that do everything to be against what is popular.

Pearl Jam please :-)

What I mean is that, the majority of people who go to Leeds and Reading, wouldn't appreciate the Stone Roses playing, as much as an older crowd, who grew up on listening to them would, i.e. people at V and Glastonbury. Don't get me wrong, I'm 20, and they are probably my favourite band of all time, and a lot of people my age and younger do like them, but I think V and Glasto, would be a much better place for them to play.

No, I don't agree.

Kings of Leon certainly aren't pop, they are popular but there is a difference (and 2 or 3 of the songs on the new album are 'pop'.)

Kings of Leon were brought up on rubbish music and religious music, by their own acounts. Over the last few years they have basicly discovered music we take for granted and that has obviously altered their sound. I think their new album was great, although I am slightly baffled by their huge success.

I agree with you there on U2, Foo Fighters and Chris Cornell but disagree about Greenday and RHCP. American idiot was a triumph and arguably the greatest punk album since London's calling. Stadium Arcadium by the Chili Peppers was a little bland but easily their most acomplished album to date with both music and lyrics.

Flea is easily one of the top 5 bass players in the world today, and Fruiscante is an amazing player (he often spends 18 hours a day playing). If it was such a rediculas statement then why are do they both apear in so many top 100 style lists? The world is a triangle, paper is made of water etc THESE are ridiculous statements.

I'm talking very specificly about their records.

Perhaps it was badly recived from closeminded fanboys but it got great reviews, and from publications that haven't rated their previous work. Mojo gave it 4, Kerrang 4, Rolling Stone 4, Ign 10 - some of these aren't publications you would assosiate with the punk genre. Its won grammys, brits etc and has sold over 15 million albums worldwide. If this is being recieved badly then I would love to know you definition of being recieved well.

I never compared them to the clash, I said it was the best (and easily most ambitious) punk album since London calling.

I think both of those are ridiculous statements.

And thats unarguable on any forum related to reading.

The 2007 set by RHCP confirmed their demise as a live act after other poor performances.

American Idiot was one of the most poorly received albums. It sold records but was critically a flop in comparison to their earlier works. But even then, to compare anything Green Day have done to the Clash beggers belief.

That's funny...it came out of Melvin Benn's mouth on Wednesday night last week... :)

In which case you'll have to learn to not believe all he tells you, cos my info is that that is not correct. :)

Call me wrong all you like. Only one of us has a very long record of getting these these things right.

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
