Just watched The Descendants, which I found really enjoyable. Off to see Dark Knight Rises on Thursday with my eldest son for his birthday, all the more sweeter as he has paid for the tickets. However it is in Birmingham and I have to stump up the £25 train fare which is extremely inconvenient, and just plain inconsiderate of him.

Still not seen it yet as I am still in Portugal, returning Friday. I'm looking forward to it but seeing as I didn't w*nk all over the dark knight, I'm not expecting too much. I'm sure it will be good, and it will be a rare cinema attendance for me, but as I say, I'm braced for it not living up to the hype in the slightest.

It is people like you that is what is wrong with the world. Some things should be just left well alone

I remember seeing this when it first came out on Betamax (boy was that a bad investment). At the time it was truely spine chilling. I had the misfortune to watch the remake, which is basically just the same film but shit (see comment above)

Just watched V/H/S

Fairly standard found footage horror, but with a couple of nice twists on the cliches. Overall worth a watch, but don't buy the inevitable incoming hype that will surround its undoubted Halloween release.

I would say that maybe 2 of the "tapes" were scary/enjoyable.

oh, and I watched The Raid : Redemption yesterday too. fucking brilliant. I watched the dubbed version, normally I would watch it with the original language, and subtitles, but tbh what little dialogue there is is bollocks anyway. its all about the scrapping and the guns. I would say it is the "Crouching tiger hidden dragon" of brutal scrapping and shooting films. the fight choreography is like nothing I have ever seen before. its truly amazing.

    • If the below link works - thats interesting.   While I don't particularly put much stock in that account as a source (never seen it before though, tbf), and I can pick a hole or two (see below) in what he says - the timing of it is a week before I had the Fontaines '27 stadium info (same stadium he says on there, Tottenham). The info, or part of it, matches up.   Holes I'd pick: I'd have to watch again but I THINK he says 'end of year' for Tottenham - not possible, for a number of reasons, though he's probably just got his words mixed up there. It's Summer '27. He also says Glastonbury is/would be based on how the album does. That doesn't stack up to me, unless it was a 2028 thing. I suppose that could stack up, but still seems a bit of an odd approach. I would personally still expect it to be 2027 alongside the stadium gigs, IF they are gonna do it, though I've still not got a Scooby when the album is gonna drop, only that the tour is due for Spring (or early) next year.   Interesting, nonetheless.   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaOB3Q9qkwW/
    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
    • well, we might know by the end of next month if they drop the lineup early again
    • I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.
