  1. tuesday last day, but monday last day in the office. although i've kinda shot myself in the foot because i've done so little actual work recently i've got shit loads that i have to get done before then... wish i'd done that the other way round...
  2. trying out my just delivered flip-up clip-on sunglasses. hate carrying stuff round with me so anything that helps that is worth a go, seem ok so far. used to wear contact lenses but one too many bad experiences put me off and no longer wear them. (it was actually fri / sat at glastonbury 2016 - i spent literally hours poking and scraping my eyes trying to get them out... in the end i went up the hospitent and asked them to get them out for me - which is where i learned that they were in fact already out... never had the courage to wear them again since...)
  3. interesting question to think about actually... i've never: been to JP (to see anyone, been past it) been to any venues in the Park except for the Rabbit Hole been to the Glastonbury sign (although did climb up the LOVE sign that was above the stone circle for a couple of years) made anything in the craft field (although a photo does exist of me with a hammer and chisel next to a big block of stone but i have zero memory of that ever taking place...) seen the burning of the phoenix on weds night as by that time i've normally spent a few hours moaning about how tired i am and have gone to bed... i'm sure there's plenty more but those spring to mind...
  4. Avalon Inn is my favourite by some way - can happily spend a long long time there... also honorable mentions to Bread & Roses and the main bar in the markets that has "BAR" in big wooden letters that serves frozen margaritas
  5. just getting through PG A... today is my second to last day i have to be in the office... fair to say my desire to do any actual work is somewhat diminished 🙂
  6. Dubkasm and Channel One on the Firmly Rooted stage (whatever that is - from the name it would suggest full on roots & culture but as far as i can see aside from a handful its just yet another stage of dance stuff).
  7. still "working", but from home, ready to get moving later in the evening...
  8. few years back, cant remember which but i remember it was dry... Mik was the ONLY thing i saw all weekend - i went to every show he did (except for one, cant remember which or why, but i know i missed one). he must have been so sick of seeing my face there. i still love Mik and will deffo see him at some point but for me its not the same now without Benson.
  9. weds - that first paid-for festival pint in Bread & Roses, something of a tradition in recent years thurs - System 7 fri - Dubkasm sat - waterboys sun - dick pulsing's giant twister, again something of a tradition in recent years
  10. sat where i am right now in the office - but for the last time before heading off!
  11. thursday: system 7 mik pronghorn friday: ziggy marley dubkasm channel one saturday: waterboys sunday: giant twister with dick pulsing tristan rest of the time i'll prob just be sat in a deckchair at the Summerhouse and see what happens...
  12. System 7 and Dubkasm for me today - i therefore suggest the same to you! 🙂
  13. i am actually dreading the mornings this year. i had Covid back in Feb - had it real bad and was pretty much knocked out for a month or so. i have the usual lingering things like fatigue, headache etc... but a weird side effect i have from it is that i get horriblel disproportionate hangovers now. like i can have a couple of beers with dinner, and the next morning i feel like i've been out all night - its very odd and very annoying and i am not looking forward to it on the farm!
  14. System 7 opening the Glade (odd timing?), then over to the Rocket Lounge for Mik followed by Pronghorn! nice.
  15. its a good thing my boss is off today, because unless refreshing this page and the line-up page counts as work i've not been particularly productive today...
  16. i started going to free / squat parties in '93 i think (not entirely sure but i know i just missed Castlemorton). it was a BIG regret of mine for a long long time that i missed it - but in truth, and now in middle age, it was probably for the best... i cant imagine how much MORE i would have fried my brain if i'd have been there... i remember reading an interview once with one attendee who said something like "i know some people who went to Castlemorton and never really came back"... the amount if shit i used to do back then i think i may have ended up in that category. so, with that in mind, i'm excited to see what they do with this! i'm also really excited about the carnival thing - if Aba Shanti-I is there i shall be one very happy chap indeed.
  17. after the last festival i pledged to get in shape for the next one. well, i can confirm i have failed miserably, and am fatter, achier and generally all round more broken than last time. with four weeks to go i guess its too late to worry about it... what an absolute idiot i am to have, literally, wasted all that time (at least in relation to this thread...)
  18. Showdown at Glastonbury is (in my humble opinion) probably the best filmed document of the festival. first time i saw it was around the time of my first time going in '94, watching it now is still an emotional experience and just the opening credit brings a tear to the eye (an Enya track i believe?) the Julien Temple film is great, but also check out Glastonbury The Movie from '95 or '96 (pretty sure it was released in '96 as there was no festival that year and it was released as a kind of stop gap) and covers the '93 festival. not long now - we are on the same page of the outlook calendar and that's always an exciting marker!
  19. Wednesday = get overexcited and go too hard too early. Thursday = desperately regret going too hard too early. actually this is not the case anymore - Wednesday for us used to be get to Brothers bar and then wake up 14 hours later somewhere wondering what the hell had happened, but now its waaaay too much of a pain to get to the bar (for the best really 🙂 ) even on wednesday so rarely bother. so wednesday and thursday is just wandering round, enjoying a steady flow of whatever and seeing what happens - i think its fair to say wednesday and thursday are my favourite days at the festival.
  20. page timed out due to my procrastination - now showing as sold out. i'm equal parts gutted and relieved (really cant afford it) which is an odd sensation! (but i'll keep checking, if the Glastonbury Gods want me to stay there it'll happen)
  21. Tipi or not Tipi! oh man, i would so love to get one of these, wanted to stay in one since i first started going... sat here looking at the booking page...
  22. i hate the journey to site, and i hate putting the tent up - it stresses me out and i'm almost guaranteed to have some kind of toddler like strop putting the thing up. but once that is done, and i can stand with beer in hand looking out over the site - THAT will be my Glastonbury moment. musical moment? wont be able to answer that until afterwards... hearing Plastic Fox for the 500th time? maybe. pinchy pinchy kiss kiss? could be. Glastonbury Song at Glastonbury? possibly. most likely it'll be something that, as i write this, i have never heard of and i stumble across at 4am... somewhere...
