  1. Amazing isn’t it, to be going so long and still putting out decent music as well as touring a 2.5 hour show. Yeah she loved it, she was messaging me throughout and the next day when the full thing came on Iplayer. She (with my Dad) also saw Wings and McCartneys legendary Albert Dock set in 1990. Next time I see her we’re gonna crack open some Champers and watch it all together.
  2. That’s a good point. I’ll try and play that card next time. She was texting me all the way through the Glasto gig watching it from home 🥹
  3. My Mum verifies that statement, but then she was 14 and one of those screaming 😁 She always wins any game of best gig Top Trumps though. No point even contesting it. I suspect I’ll be the same when I’m 70-‘well I was at the McCartney Glastonbury gig where Grohl and Springsteen etc’
  4. That would be cool but a long shot. My Mum did, Manchester Apollo in 1966. The support? The Beach Boys.

    2023 Stage Predictions

NO! AND YOURE A TERRIBLE PERSON FOR POSTING IT! ITS SHITE SHITE SHITE. WHO HURT YOU?! WHO HURT YOU??!!
  6. It’s going to be the Spice Girls next year though isn’t it?
  7. There’s a few 80s acts who could do a great Legends slot. Tears for Fears have a few hits and Duran Duran could slay it. Problem there is they’re still releasing stuff and I think still see themselves as going concerns rather than having got to the ‘touring the hits round the nostalgia circuit’ stage.
  8. I really enjoyed it, but having seen them in Glasgow a few weeks ago there were oddities. Obviously the technical hitch with Chris was noticeable. I thought maybe he’d got Covid last minute and they decided to carry on anyway. It was actually really unbalancing not having him there. Plus while the set list generally was great, there were huge misses-What Have I Done to Deserve This and Se A Vida E. They did them in Glasgow (Se A Vida E in a mash up with Single Bilingual) but had to restart WHIDTDT because of a technical hitch, I thought maybe that played a part. I read somewhere that Self Esteem was due to sing Dustys part so I wonder what happened. Re.the 2010 comparisons. WHIDTDT was a big high in ‘10 with the Dusty projection onto the stage. That was definitely a better ‘show’ but while it had WHIDTDT and Se A Vida E it didn’t have the masterpiece that is Rent, or Can You Forgive Her/Domino Dancing/Opportunities/Love Comes Quickly. So I think 2021 just shades it, especially with the addition of Vocal, far more of a banger than anyone in their 60s should be capable of.
  9. It's Little by Little I could live without but according to setlist fm he plays that all the time
  10. Agree on all of that, including the Live Forever bit (in place of Whatever for me, which didn't quite work). Wouldn't have minded Flying on the Ground or If I Had a Gun from HFB either. I pencilled Noel in mainly due to Macca proximity and because I haven't seen him before, but really enjoyed it.
  11. Anderson Paak Duran Duran Tears for Fears War on Drugs Drive By Truckers Gaslight Anthem Chvrches Confidence Man (in a much bigger slot) Garbage Elton John Death Cab for Cutie Roosevelt The National
  12. It’s never been a rock festival
  13. Same here. I opted for them over Jack White because I was heading to Lonely Hearts Club for Gabriels after and couldn’t be arsed trekking. Really enjoyed Elbow, surprised me a bit.
  14. I really felt for them. They were late IIRC and then needed the audience to help fix the sound. Shame.
  15. I don’t agree with the generalisations about the Dance music crowd at all. I do think it’s a fair point about it being too predominant though. It doesn’t even have to be live stuff but there could be more decent sized venues playing the kind of stuff they have in Williams Green, Stonebridge etc. More rock, soul, funk, pop etc.
  16. There was definitely something on Friday. I couldn’t go back from the Unfairground back into the IICON field.
  17. THURSDAY RSVP (really fun Bhangra act on Avalon Cafe) FRIDAY Hobo Jones and the Junkyard dogs Confidence Man Supergrass Plant and Krauss Sam Fender Foals Blawan B2B Lucy SATURDAY Brass Against Sofia Kourtesis Beabadoobee Haim Noel Gallagher Paul McCartney SUNDAY Warmduscher Diana Ross Elbow Cut Capers Pet Shop Boys
  18. Beabadoobee on the JP. Good tunes but absolutely zero stage presence Gabriels on Lonely Hearts Club was ruined by sound issues. Thats it really which is pretty good
  19. Yeah there is that 😆 If I’m on the coach again, or a flight/coach/bus combo as I did this year, the idea of travelling light/not having to pack up early Sunday is pretty alluring
  20. Search for the get_Iplayer app. A thing of absolute wonder.
  21. Same as you with both them songs actually 😆 Some US shows got We can work it out instead of Mr.Kite which I would infinitely have preferred
  22. Probably trying to cut fuel costs where they can too
  23. Definitely not. I’m 45 now and the aches and tiredness are getting worse. However the last 3 times I’ve been I’ve had to take a Thursday Coach ticket and it’s actually been a revelation. Had to a of energy left Sunday evening. So Thursday arrival only for me, might even splash out on WV next time for extra convenience. This year was brilliant though, I’ll definitely be trying for next year
