  1. It certainly seemed a bit busier in parts with the odd pinch point. I do think there was an element of unfamiliarity with the festival though. It’s always been very busy. Definitely some weird scheduling though. I guess the lack of festivals last two years has made it hard to judge some of the placements. That’s no excuse for not knowing the likes of TLC and Sugababes would get big crowds though. Hopefully next year will be better on that front.
  2. Let Me Roll It is an absolute tune. So is Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five. There were a couple of more recent tracks that could get in the sea but he played 2 tracks off Band on the Run which is a massive seller, and Let Em In which everyone seemed to know after it being on that advert. There was only 5 songs that could really be called obscure. The second half of the set is one for the ages. The emotion was quite something.
  3. Confidence Man/Paul McCartney/Sam Fender Very harsh to leave Pet Shop Boys out of that but I’m only allowed 3
  4. Crowds have been very lively. Dunno if it’s because there’s more young people about but Fender, Foals, Confidence Man, even McCartney and Ross were really bouncy crowds down the front.

Weird that Macca isn’t on there

St Vincent got done over by Doja Cat cancelling, her crowd got eaten by Fender being bumped up
  7. Price will go up that’s inevitable. The festival isn’t immune to the same economic shitshow that’s hitting everyone else. Had a great day yesterday though. Steered clear of WG and the Glade as too busy, went to the Circus Fields and watched a brilliant Bhangra band in Avalon. Surprised at how many non-White people I’ve seen too
  8. Would take a 2009 any year if it was offered
  9. Aaaaaaaand that’s stuck in my head
  10. Tasty. We’re they the ones that got in for the soundcheck too?
  11. Average price per ticket of $207
  12. Saw them last night in Glasgow and they were absolutely superb. Will be a perfect festival set for a sunny (yesitwillyesitwillyesitwill) afternoon.
  13. Saw Crowded House at the Hydro in Glasgow last night. Absolutely superb. Band sounded great, NeilFinn sounded superb, good patter between songs. Will be great on the Pyramid, think in that slot it could be quite emotional. Also saw the Pet Shop Boys weekend before last, stage set is less extravagant than some previous but the songs were all there. All of them. That Sunday night with them is as safe a bet as you can get at Glastonbury this year.
  14. They’re the two I’d love to see back in. Not keen on his take on Whatever. Surprised Dying of the Light and In the heat of the moment aren’t in there but maybe he’ll mix it up at the Big G.
  15. Controversial but I agree. I like both but I can see by Sunday night-especially if the weathers bad-the Pets doing a proper greatest hits set being a huge draw against some world class but challenging and singalong lacking hip hop.
  16. Same here. Though I don’t doubt the Glastonbury set will be shorter, and have more Oasis.

Hmmm. According to his website his next gig is June 30 in France
  19. Unless Confidence Man are BSing me, they’re not any of the secret set slots

I do think there’s a lot to learn in it for him. He didn’t have to put the picture on SM for example.

Acts like Crowded House and Springsteen are actually pretty unusual. Once they get to a decent level it’s hard to vary a setlist that much without taking a very minimal stage setup. Look at Macca on this tour. Very static. Theres also an art to planning a setlist. Being able to do what Springsteen does and almost completely wing parts of the show is phenomenal but it takes so much ability on the bands part and TBH it does sometimes lead to a lull where it doesn’t quite flow. Plus he always doubles back to the hits at the end. Others like to have a flow to their gigs and once they’ve got a formula and pace that works stick with it.

Thing is, that particular lyric isn’t specifically referencing domestic abuse. It’s nice that it got adopted that way, but I think it’s harsh for people to apply their own meaning to a song then criticise the singer for not responding *exactly* how they would want him to respond to their personal interpretation. I know it comes with the territory but you can see why so many artists stop engaging with their fan base as they get bigger. On a personal level, my wife saw her Mum getting hit by her Dad before he ran off. She didn’t get upset by Fender having a picture taken with Depp in a pub.

It’s how things are now. Like me he had probably paid no attention to the court case and knows nothing of Depp beyond films he’s seen him in. But he got loads of abuse from people who weee offended and now having apologised he’s getting loads from those who think he’s a ‘coward’ and a ‘traitor.’ Probably best to get a team to keep his SM nice and anodyne or just not post anything.
