  1. Yes hopefully they need a couple of weeks and we'll be back home.
  2. Shit what does this mean for re-sale. I'm on holiday for the 2nd week of March (in the UK but no doubt with rubbish internet a it's the middle of nowhere) I deliberately booked March and not April so that I would be at home with all our trusty equipment for re-sale day!!
  3. Yep I know why they do it but I don't like that artists I love employ the same tricks as fraudsters. It's worse when you have friends who are interested as well because do you risk them selling out to ask if £40 was more than they wanted to pay or if they are okay with it or just buy them and hope they don't say I would never have paid that much. From the point it's put on the ticketing website you should be able to see what the cost will be when they go on sale. I remember re-scheduling a work meeting once to be ready for a ticket sale for a friend and I and as soon as I saw the price it was a no from me but a lot of wasted effort to get to that point.
  4. Yes I think some do call things out but I do wonder if it's actually the bigger venues that set such rules. I generally find I only have to buy with Ticketmaster etc if I am going to a larger gig. It does need some of the bigger artists to speak out to make change happen though. Yep think we are on the same page with these things but it is amazing how many people who consider themselves left wing and who fight for 'the little guy' but complain about spending any money on the arts because thee is enough free stuff around to satisfy them. I have a friend I have a continual argument about this with. I might be making some headway as he is coming to a gig with me shortly. He has finally conceded that if people never get paid for art then only mega rich people can afford to do it. Another thing that irritates me is not being able to find out the price of tickets until they go on sale. Surely as soon as they are announced they can tell you how much they will cost and yes I'd rather than inclusive of fees price as I have no choice but to pay them.
  5. Yep I know too many people who think music should essentially be a free commodity. I buy vinyl predominantly to support the artists. I don't even listen to it at the rate I buy it and especially during the pandemic I concentrated on spending my money mostly on smaller artists who I knew could be hit hardest by not being able to tour. I don't buy as much tour merch as I should but mainly because I really hate carting it around on the night of a gig but I do try and buy the odd t-shirt online. I do go mostly for cheaper, smaller venue gigs but that's mostly because those playing the big arenas/stadiums don't really need the money/support as much and I do prefer smaller gigs. I do also pay for my Deezer and artists probably earn more from me than most as I always have music playing in at least one room in the house even when I go out (for the dogs!) That being said I would like artists to use their clout to get more venues adopting services like Dice which is more environmentally friendly, easier to re-sell and screw over fans less with booking fees etc.
  6. That post deserved more love than it got!!

    How do you feel?

Very sad news. Wishing all his family and friends love and strength and when/if I ever get back to the farm I'll raise a glass to him.
  8. Hopefully soon. Keep hanging in there!!
  9. Yep. It was very harrowing. No sure about it as a TV show. You'll have to tell me what it's like. It's a long time since I read The God Delusion (one of the 7 I had read before I discovered this list so probably around the time it was published) and it was that sense of superiority that I just wasn't keen on and the fact he seemed to think all non-believers should form some kind of group. I've noticed it with politics ever since, the smug superiority and kind of shouting at the other side that's never going to convince anyone to change their mind.
  10. Cool. I love covers and I love REM so don't think I can go far wrong.
  11. I heard about this and searched for it on Deezer but it wasn't there. Thanks for the info on where you can get it.

😄 Totally I mean don't they know I like my men just to be walking sex objects 😄 Although at least he could now wear this
  13. I did but I do actively dislike his approach. It's bad when people who agree with you in principle still hate how you say everything. I find him every bit as annoying as fundamentalists of various religions. I'm up to 20 of the list complete. I own 6 others but they are all quite heavygoing and the last one The Underground Railroad was a tough read so think I'll read a few more lightweight books before going back to it. Would like to get to 25 before the end of the year but I also want to read War and Peace and I'm told that will take months.
  14. I might still go for it. Joe is a great front man and maybe the new album will be better live.
  15. Not really I think as a band they peaked at the album they were touring at the time of the last Glastonbury. Since then they have become more famous but I personally haven't enjoyed their musical output so I would be paying more for what I think would be a worse performance. I usually tend to opt for cheaper gigs anyway and so not sure if I am willing to stretch my budget for someone whom I think won't be as good as last time. But then again I also stopped eating steak at about 12 years old so maybe you're onto something 😄
  16. I'd love to see Joan Armatrading. Great songs and she also just seems like a lovely person. Tell me if they are any good I keep contemplating buying tickets on Twickets and then not doing because I doubt they'd be better than they were at Glastonbury.
  17. I shed a tear when I found out she was touring Manchester whilst I was on holiday!!
  18. Little Simz - Introvert (although I could pick some of the others as well) Self Esteem - I do this all the time
  19. So sorry to hear this. I genuinely do think the tories are going to use this pandemic to prove the NHS is not fit for purpose so that they can go ahead and privatise it and end up with a system as shitty as the American one. Hope your Mum is doing ok.
  20. TBH it's criminal that it's not above all of them.
  21. Yes lots of talk on Twitter that he was told to stop doing political posts on Twitter and didn't and that's why they decided to ditch him. Might be some truth to it as I have noticed in recent months that Lauren Laverne barely tweets any more and she used to be quite active.

    First Gig Back

Think you must have just been stood in a poor spot. I wasn't expecting much having been really disappointed with their Other Stage headline slot in 2016 but they sounded bloody brilliant last night although only so much can be done with Barney's singing voice. Hot Chip were fantastic as always. The organisation to get in wasn't fantastic and we only got something to eat and a bottle of water and it was bloody extortionate. 2 small portions of mac and cheese and a bottle of water cost £23.50. All in all a good night.
  23. Yep I think it's a good list even the ones I don't especially like I appreciate are decent examples of their genres just not for me.
