  1. I knew I wouldn't get it on release day as I have a big group of pre-orders but usually I get the e-mail to say it has arrived and this release takes me over the £50 free delivery so was going to e-mail as soon as I got it to tell them it was time to split the order so that I would get it early next week. I have finished first listen though and it is sublime. Looking forward to hearing the vinyl when it arrives.
  2. Mine hasn't arrived yes which is why I didn't realise it was out today. 😞
  3. How have I not realised this was out today. Been listening to all sorts of dross from August this morning when I could have been listening to this. Don't worry it is being corrected now!!

    How do you feel?

Great news. I think just taking the time to think and make decisions for you can make all the difference.
  5. That's one I only added yesterday when I saw it mentioned on here. I'll be honest I didn't even notice it when it played which isn't a great 1st spin but I will hopefully hear it again over the weekend.
  6. Cheers interesting results. Need to do a bit more listening to solidify how I feel about this months albums but they have actually been a bit meh for me this month. Could be that some will grow on me and I will keep them in rotation for a while yet and I have a few more to add based on votes in here so thanks to all those as always putting new music in my ears!
  7. Cool that's ok then. I am still working my way through the Guardian's top 100 of the 21st century list so far but some of the books are part of a series so I end up adding the other books in the series to my list as well. I just buy them when they are on offer. Here's an example of my very geeky spreadsheet to keep track. Yellow means I have read them. Green means I have bought the book an it's in my TBR pile. I actually think I might have read the Bob Dylan one when it came out but I can't remember for sure 🙄
  8. I have this one on my TBR list. Is it the start of a series? or somewhere in the middle? I'm a bit of a stickler about trying to read things in the correct order.
  9. I just finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. Great book so many moral and ethical questions raised. For me it showed just how damaging the commercialisation of healthcare is. Would be interested to know if anyone else has read it. I need some people to read it so I can discuss it.
  10. Everyone knows parenthood is a bit do as I say not as I do. You want your kids to be better than you.
  11. I often use the albums voted in this thread for my start of month listening and I basically add and remove albums as and when I make my mind up about them. I still had some June albums up until last week. I fucked up not voting for the latest Marina album in June. It's a great album. Oh well I don't mind not being at the cutting edge. I'm still reading books that were written hundreds of years ago so only a few months out of date is pretty decent!!

    Kanye West

Yep I won't even listen to it on that basis.
  13. I'll bet it's an interesting read although I get how it could bring up many mixed emotions.
  14. Hardest month yet for me. Not massively connected with any of them and any that I have liked seem to have been July or June releases that I missed. In fairness I have had a crazy busy month at work and not been listening deeply so no doubt by the end of September I'll know my favourite releases! So I am going to go for: Big Red Machine Superstate Orla Gartland

    How do you feel?

If the current job is making you unhappy just interviewing for other stuff and starting to get out of the comfort zone is a really excellent first step. I have left a job without even another job to go to once before. It was very stressful for all the reasons you mention. I had savings and my husband was able to cover all our bills but the weight that left me when I left that workplace on that last day it was 100% worth it.

    How do you feel?

Could you supplement part time work with another part time job maybe even advertise in shop windows to do dog walking or house cleaning for some top up funds. Cleaners around where I am earn between £13-16 an hour and dog walkers charge about £10 an hour but can take up to 4 dogs so just a few regular jobs might be enough to justify ditching the full time job. There are days when I consider doing this!!
  17. Oh no. You've not been having the best time of it. Hope that you are recovered soon and home in your own place.
  18. Yep I'm all for it as well. In fact many albums could do with being shorter these days and a lot of EP's are as long as some albums.
  19. Ah great news. Got to admit I was little emotional at my first 2 gigs. Got the 3rd at the weekend and it's one that will remind me strongly of Glastonbury so I fully expect to be emotional about that as well.
  20. Goosebumps I can't wait to see her live!!
  21. Some of my favourites from this month have been stuff I missed from other months. Going to have to check the release dates carefully.

    How do you feel?

We've had to deal with my sister-in-law (different brother) being diagnosed with kidney cancer recently as well and that was another shock out of the blue. Thankfully it was caught in time and other than having to live with one kidney and being monitored for that they hope she will be fine. Hope the rest of your friends and family keep in good health.

    How do you feel?

Sorry to hear your Mom is not doing well. Dementia is such a cruel illness as you feel like you lose them twice. Sending you hugs as well.

    How do you feel?

Oh so sorry to hear this and sending big hugs and much love and strength your way. I know exactly how you feel after what happened with my brother this year. After the last funeral we went to we were having conversations about the old and the frail in our family who we were worried about and didn't expect to have long left since then my brother has died, my sister in law been diagnosed with kidney cancer, my younger cousin died of brain cancer and all those that we thought were old and frail are still here and just older and frailer. We've actually gotten pretty good at treating chronic illness and it's the ones that appear out of nowhere that shock us. Grief is not a straight line so be kind to yourself and allow yourself to feel anyway you want to.
  25. Been out about a month now I think and I missed it at time of release and don't think I have seen anyone mention it but I am liking Joel Culpepper - Sgt Culpepper
