  1. Never heard of creeper before but just stuck it on due to all good reviews on here. Big bat out of hell vibes on track 1 ha
  2. Saw squid in Bristol last night on first of their two nights at SWX. Enjoyed it and band sounded tight as when I have seen them twice before. Some of the new album tracks sounded good live , and also the little interludes between songs that link it all together are often real set highlights for me. on balance prob enjoyed the gig I watched at marble factory back in 2021 a little more just because it had a few earlier songs I love which have now dropped out the setlist (houseplants, sludge, cleaner). Fair enough when touring a new album though missed the support band ‘blue bendy’ unfortunately as mate got delayed and he had the tickets
  3. Just caught the last showing of Stop Making Sense at local cinema. Awesome to see on big screen
  4. It was lost and grounded at the main bars . Helles and Wanna go to the sun as lager and pale ale options. May well have been a dedicated craft beer place doing pints and a wider variety to, but I didn’t bother seeking it out as can options had me covered
  5. I went on the Saturday and really enjoyed. Similar stage setup to previous years. Scheduling meant you could watch a bit of all acts on both stage if you were comfortable missing 10-15 mins of sets and don’t mind a quick transfer. Most of bar queues were decent (cans). was busy without being overcrowded. Seemed a decent crowd didn’t see any bother. watched some / all of Yasmin Lacey, Katy J Pearson, obongjayar, jockstrap, amyl and sniffers, primal scream, leftfield , aphex twin didn’t eat anything in there but looked like some decent options. I had a pizza on whiteladies road before then grabbed some grub on walk home after
  6. Cracking day. Watched Lazy Eyes (big tame impala / pond vibes), Walkmen, Amyl, YYYs and Strokes. Ended up with a poor spot for Strokes as didn’t want to miss end of YYYs but that was always gonna be the case so only myself to blame. was a bit underwhelmed with Strokes but had seen some setlists in advance and noticed they seem to have completely dropped a couple of my favs from all live shows this year, so was expecting that. My poor positioning didn’t help. They still played a decent number of big hits though and sound seemed ok where I was even of view was a bit pants . Far from a disaster I thought . YYYS we’re great. Was a bit annoying the screen pics were slightly pixelated though - less of that in future please ha
  7. 440 is a big can size isn’t it. Handy if you can buy cans unopened as you can snag 3 before headliner and keep 2 in pocket. Seem to remember doing this for Foals a year or two back
  8. Just picked up tickets for the strokes day. Can anyone remember how far out they normally drop the stage splits / times ?
  9. Yep something like this . I would avoid the use of A and B as it gives B a secondary feel ha also I would try and make sure the distribution of anyone with a track record of success is split between the two groups if you put all the really on the ball and efficient mates in one group , and all the less ‘on the ball’ ones in the other then it may be less fair I would also consider trying to flush out the groups to 6 , whether using friends of friends , or perhaps people on here who are in singles/doubles. Just because you get tickets with them doesn’t mean you have to camp / stay together come festival time
  10. Have had a day ticket to Valley fest before but not camped. beautiful setting for a festival , lots of kids there , big focus on food too. Music bookings don’t always do to much to excite my personal taste , but if they are to your liking then could be a great shout for a place to take young kids
  11. Went to forwards last year. Although nothing anti-family about it, and people did bring children , I don’t remember much stuff that was really for kids seened mainly just a few stages and then bars and food places between granted I may have missed it as wasn’t really looking out for kids stuff
  12. Yeah I went to that Strokes day. Was poor sound where we were when set started but we relocated and second half of set sounded fine I’ve just noticed there is a group ticket option that works out £70 if you are a 6. I think we have 4 of us nailed on so might try and tickle a few mates to see if we can hit the 6 mark and bag that discount I have just finished reading meet me in the bathroom book so I’m more willing to part with the dosh to see Strokes , YYY and Walkmen than I might have been a month ago ha have not seen the latter two before either . Also would be keen to see amyl , warmduscher , black midi if clashes allow
  13. Hello all. wasn’t going to make the trip to London this year but have had a change of heart and now going to get a ticket for strokes day with a couple of mates. yet to purchase tickets though. Have we already seen / do we think much chance of any BOGOFs or similar ? I know in previous years there has been some for some of the days. im guessing this one is selling pretty well though compatible to others do we think I should just bite the bullet and pay the £90, or do we think deals could emerge if hold off? appreciate nobody knows categorically , just wondered if there was any general view from this forum cheers in advance
  14. Struggling to find this one on the iplayer? Swear it was there prior . can anyone else currently see it ?
  15. Just wanted to say thanks for all these responses , I don’t seem to have enough likes available to like/thanks all
  16. Evening all. Not a Glasto direct question but I think there could be some helpful posters on this forum to help me out . Just finished reading the book meet me in the bathroom , about the early 2000s New York music scene (strokes / yyys etc). I haven’t read any books like this before about music scenes / time periods. Really enjoyed it, esp when I found a 5 hr playlist on Spotify that had every track mentioned in the book which I could put on quietly in background while reading. Does anyone have any good recommendations for music books of a similar nature? I’m 40 so I guess it helps that the one mentioned here was a time I was really getting into music while at uni etc. ps - the one other music book I have read is the Glastonbury book that came out a few years back
  17. I saw someone wearing the GnR Glasto T-shirt in one of the bars in T&C fields and was really surprised. ive never noticed band specific Glasto merch available before at previous festivals . Is it common? I have seen all the Glasto merch , and I have seen the headliners sell some for their own merch , but it’s the first time I have seen a band have their own Glasto specific designed merch
  18. Just watched WoD on iplayer, now young fathers , then gonna finish with QOTSA , can’t wait. glad to hear it sounds like they smashed it (again)
  19. Thanks all this is really helpful. sounds like I might have to find something else after live streams finish on Friday night , but by Saturday night headliner close , maybe some of the Friday sets I missed might have been uploaded not quite the same as normal trudge to Arcadia or south of east corner but it will have to do
  20. First year in about 10 I have missed out. I am planning to max out bbc coverage in daytime hours it says they have live streams on iplayer from the 5 ‘main’ stages on all days so I should be able to get watch all the acts I would have watched on those stages. A question for anyone knows. How soon do the recorded sets get added? I normally binge a load when I get back on Monday and they are there then , but not sure when they appear as an example, if I decide to watch young fathers live on Fri eve (instead of Fred again), when would the Fred set be added to the player? would be epic if it was almost immediate and I could start watching it after live headliner finished that eve . guess that’s a bit ambitious though?
  21. Listened to it 3/4 times now and while it’s all pleasant enough it’s just not landing for me. Seems a bit dull and samey
  22. Saturday card seems pretty deep, think I will likely pick a ticket up. Might need to see a bit more of the acts added for Friday before committing to that too though
  23. Kasabian we’re good before the boss that year Tame impala was good too. Quite a small crowd for that slot but weather was pretty magic and think the band and crowd who did attend were well into it with about 10 festivals attended actually really surprised I can’t remember more contenders ha fender was good recently , as were vampire weekend year before
  24. Have you heard this is happening? Or just hoping ? if the former , any idea if Friday headliner , or whether it would be in addition to aphex twin on the Saturday ?
  25. Nice one, I had missed the teaser posters so thanks for posting. Hopefully we get announcements with the top acts across both days soon
