Scared to identify with what you want to, so you identify with what you're told to i.e. men want women to look pretty, so they try to. Some even defining themselves by it.

I'm trying to establish that women conform to male desire to such a degree that it defines who they are. Men do not suffer the same fate. They may lie to get sex, but that isn't having your whole identity defined by women, is it?

No, because it's not traditionally something which a woman would find attractive on a male.

Take Greeneyes for example not wanting to wear make-up because to him it doesn't make him feel masculine, whereas brighteyes has realised that these days eyeliner is something which a lot of women find quite attractive on a man.

Times change, men used to wear loads of make-up years ago, lipstick, blusher, the lot. They quite possibly used to remove leg hair as best they could also, I don't know, I wasn't around back then. I do know that pictures would suggest they used to wear tights though......
