Apparently he is leaving next year, this November is his farewell to Europe tour, Im guessing hes gunna finish up just after WrestleMania next year, because apparently he's busted up so bad that he just can't go on

Taker might not be the best on the mic, but the whole Taker image and the spectical [spl] of his promos are what make them special, gotta say though I hated the limo with teddy long seg the other week, it was just horrible

IMO everyone has faced Undertaker in these big matches HHH, Michales, Big Show, Khali, Mark Henry, Punk, Edge, Batista, Orton apart from two people

Cena and Jericho

and Jericho is set for a fued with a returning Edge, so yeah I guess that would leave Cena

would be a big draw I reckon and the perfect chance to turn Cena heel

Got a text from my mate who's a Fulham fan tonight, he's all excited about the fact that Austin said he'd be at the West Ham Fulham match tomorrow ;)

I miss Austin though. Or more specificly I miss the Attitude era. Bring back blood, mild swearing and a non-PC jerry lawler shouting about "puppies" rather than how the divas are both beautiful and intelligent (seriously, watch a womans match nowadays and they feel obliged to mention how intelligent the divas are so they're not just sex objects. It's ridiculous, they're probably about as intelligent as the male superstars (Rey mysterio was dissappointed Mexico didn't qualiify for last years European Championships)

Should we bring back the nWo as well?

The Attitude era was great but its dead. Yes, 1998 was brilliant, but by late 2000 it was starting to get stale. Sooner or later it becomes like Shameless where its just being shocking for the sake of it and none of it means anything.

The problem with wrestling these days is that the characters and what they do isnt interesting. Everyone has the same match, 90% of the guys cut the same promo, everyone is in the same position on the card feuding with the same guys as they have been for years. So nothing is fresh. All the guys have trained to wrestle at the same place under the same guy, who they all wrestle the same. So, every match is the same and every interview is the same.

Smackdown has been great this year and whys that? Look at the guys who have carried it. Chris Jericho, a near twenty year veteran with experience on the 90's Indie circuit, ECW, Japan, WCW and WWF. CM Punk, experienced indie veteran and ROH champion. Edge, fifteen year plus veteran trained in Canada with experience of the Canadian and North eatern independent circuit, before gaining a WWF developmental deal in 1997. Rey Misterio Jr. Where hasnt this guy wrestled?

Compare this with Raw. Hunter, who has the WWE style probably craved into his brain. John Cena and Randy Orton, both trained in OVW and called up to the main roster in 2002, little, if any, experience of anything outside WWE. MVP, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, the Miz, Dibiase, Rhodes etc all work the same style. The only people who stand out on Raw in terms of wrestling are Shawn Michaels- obviously (and if you watch his last DVD you can see where he worked) and Evan Bourne, who again is an indie veteran with tonnes of experience.

Going back to the attitude era wont make the slightest bit of a difference. In fact, if anything it will probably be worse as it will be obviously comes across as forced. The problems are a hell of a lot of deeper than the current TV direction.

I put everything that is wrong with the WWE product at the moment down to 'creative' and Vince's mood swings.

But even so, I would rather poke my eyes out with a spoon than watch the utter nonsense that is the Russorific TNA. The only thing that could make me watch that bullshit is Cornette, and now he's gone there is absolutely no reason for me to subject myself to it.

not a good reason and time then to grow out of it?

i said i would never grow old of wrestling, but i've not properly watched it now for about 6 or 7 years! think it does have a shelf life for people and its much more magical in your younger years.

you cant really compare ufc and wwe though. people watch ufc cos its real and theres an excitement to it.

my brother who still watches wrestling will just fast forward through the majority of matches. dunno why he still bothers.

you're probably right though, if this was what i was being fed when i was a kid/teenager, i wouldn't really have been into it. i was lucky enough to be raised on an outstanding product. bret hart/shawn michaels all the way to rock/austin.

    • What is too old for Leeds Fest now ?  I'm going to the Fontaines Saturday in a few weeks at 54 !!!  I may be the oldest there 🙂    Wythenshawe may be an option for WA.
    • Pretty much all festivals lose out on major artists because of production limitations though. Glastonbury is no different to most other festivals.  Lots of acts can/will adapt their tour production to suit festival stages if they want to play them, but some acts with stage designs and routines just don't want to adapt, and would rather just stick with a rigid, well-rehearsed production and take the money for their own gigs, whether that's a lot more than playing Glastonbury, or slightly less than playing some other festivals (but with added complications). Trying to adapt the stage, layout, access to b-stages etc to accommodate a single headliner on a Friday and then having to change it all around for a Saturday headliner isn't really a goer when most headliners can just easily adapt their show to stay on a main stage, if they're so inclined. They have a year to figure out how to perform a song on a main stage and ditch a few dance routines out on a b-stage if they really put their mind to it. It's not that difficult......
    • I would be all over Wolf Alice but may have outgrown this venue.    Also have to consider the schedule they have been on this year so may be on a break.  This last 10 days alone they did Tramlines, New York, Chicago and Kendal Calling.  Although make hay while the sun shines may come into play.
