Not wishing to worry anyone but...........doeas anyone else remember just how cold it was on the Thursday morning in 1997. It was almost sleet I'm sure. (facts on this are most welcome)

Anyway 15C sounds ok compared to that

I remember in 05 thinking everything was looking really good until a few days beforehand when there was a hell of a debate about the weather, up until then it was blue skies and sunshine, surely the gods can't piss on us again.

And blitz spirit aside i can't emphasise how important it is that the weather is good

ok its rude to try and answer your own question (about 1997) but I tried and failed, I just know it was VERY cold, the note below is the closest i came to finding out what the temp was. If any of you weather guru's can help please do as I now have beer riding on it. I've called it below 10 C . Pretty sure it was well below but memory does tend to exagerate things. Anyway for the newbies this is how bad it can get

Unseasonal summer weather - June 1997 (26th June) -(NOT GOOD)

A deep depression remained almost stationary, situated over south eastern England and the Channel. Winds swirled around the depression in an anticlockwise direction, bringing north easterly winds over the North Sea and then across the UK. The air blowing over the North Sea picked up large quantities of moisture which fell as rain across central and southern England, producing the wettest June this century.

erm sorry if i freaked anyone

Thanks for the reply Steve I'm not sure it has helped on two fronts

1) I've been drinking, so the pretty swirly pictures just remind me of the good bit in the Dumbo movie and now I feel Queezy

2) I really really needed a minimum temp below 10 C to win my beers bet , although I couldnt drink them tonight.

thanks again for taking the time
