strange i thought May and Jez want to open a pub together after they finish Top Gear. Read a interview with may a few month back and he said he doesn't expect himself or Jez to continue much longer anyway as they are getting on.

May and Hammond are never off the telly at the moment. Both total darlings at Auntie BBC... why would they finish now? Makes zero sense. They can do what they bloody like it seems! Case in point is the bloody Lego house thingy.

May's done about 3 different shows for Sky as well though, and Hammond had a daytime show on ITV a couple of years ago.

They also seem to get away with saying what they like. I wouldn't be surprised if impartiality problems come down hard on them

I think whats becoming a big problem is the level of scrpiting. In the early days of the relaunch a big claim was that is was un-scripted. They can no longer make that claim.

Interesting the last post on this thread was about the Vietnam special. Those are the programmes I enjoy most. The studio features are getting a bit tired.

I like Clarkson, not because I agree particularly with much he says, far from it. It's simply because he hates Piers Morgan. The enemy of my enemy is my friend etc.

Besides, all three of them play characters. James May is playing the dull toff twit (despite proving to be incredibly clever and witty). Hammond plays up the chavvy Americanised prankster boy racer (despite proving to being intelligent and incredibly eloquent) and Clarkson plays the macho, conservative buffoon (despite demonstrating more liberal qualities). All of which come across as satirical noise and not to be taken at all literally, despite clearly being based somewhat on their real-life personalities. And they play these characters because they know it pushes buttons, the more you push buttons, the more people will watch.

About the cars - the sound of that Bathurst VXR made me have a little crisis.

Clarkson was right you have to admit. If the successor to the combustion engine is anything less than exciting, petrol driven cars will join the likes of the steam train in extinction, and only exist in rose tinted specs to a bygone era when things may have been less efficient and have more moving parts but it was definitely more interesting than the replacement tech.

Remember when Jay Leno was on a couple of series ago, he made the point that the petrol car will become the same as we consider horses. We used to rely on them as the main mode of transportation years ago, until the age of the motor car when they became purely used in leisure pursuits. Our petrol motors will become the same.
