Man can you believe this used to be an aspirational festival to attend.

I feel this way about many festivals, Rock Werchter, Nos and Mad Cool are the last great European festivals if you ask me. The US at least got some amazing metal festivals over the last few years, and fests like Just like Heaven can scratch the alternative rock itch.

I think it's just a sign of the times given the lack of rock headliners breaking through in the last 10-15 years means that once out and out rock festivals are having to book different stuff. Hell I remember Austin 2013 having Muse and Depeche Mode at the same time, which is wild, as part of a pretty stacked bill. This year's just wasn't the same I guess.

Didn't know Teddy Swims was that big tbh.

This certainly is part of the problem, but not the entire thing. On the one hand there aren't many rock bands breaking through, on the other hand many of the established bands got to big to headline, or rather they prefer doing solo shows, so they are bumping up acts to headline status that never were there before, like Korn. And one can certainly argue that by now Korn gained legend status and deserve to headline, BUT at the same time acts that once we're headliner but dwindled in popularity still hold on to the headline status, leaving us with underwhelming under cards and weaker headliners.

Many are losing their edge, Werchter have too many gaps of just boring filler where it is literally just a music festival, obviously that subjective. Headliner wise last year makes this year also look incredibly weak but it fills out stronger, still with big gaps though. Mad Cool for an all round has the best lineup for me but it's not been layed out very well which is why Pinkpop probably clipses is just for names.

Horses for courses. Amyl, Yungblud and The Strokes. The rest is extremely underpar for a major music festival I feel.m

Fair play. I'd be all over it if I wasn't still rocking in a corner from the financial hit of going to Buenos Aires for ACDC. 😅

I definitely don't blame you for that choice, it'll be great. I'm not even a big AC/DC fan either

Rock Werchetr was always just a music festival. At least when I went nearly 10 years ago it was...

I think the Friday is banging. The Strokes, Turnstile, Geese, the Chats, Lambrini Girls, Wet Leg and Wednesday on the same day is about as good as a rock festival gets these days, at least for me. Saturday and Sunday look a bit shite though!

I think it's pretty in keepign with festivals these days tbh.. Even ones with some good rock acts tend to have them on the same day and have a pop day. Pukkelpop did the same
