In 22 looks like she subbed Sigrid on T'Other, but since then she has taken off, so who knows. I think she'd be a great sub for Pulp, but the poster seems to suggest Spiritualized for that, and a special guest TBA. Agree with you, the special guest slot would be a tragedy. She would definitely be worth more than that for a Sheffield audience. Also, she has a headline slot for End of the Road - I know that's a lot smaller, but confirms she can draw a decent sized crowd these days.

The 2022 performance on T'Other Stage was a belter.

I think Sheffield's love for her would make her a Sub-headliner or nothing. I'm happy to be wrong, though. I'm desperate for a good alternative on Saturday night...

Putting her up against the Reytons would be perfect - clash of the Rotherham titans! And would cater for a much wider audience.

Would Rebecca want to do main stage though after having doe T'Other already.

You're probably right, given her London theatre residency too. Any way she can be added to the weekend would be very welcome though

Slightly off-topic, but some promising news for Sheffield music fans - the O2 has submitted planning for a new roof

Fab news but I have enjoyed attending more gigs at the Octagon this past year! More reasonable (and better) drinks selection and great sightlines. I hope its reopening means more gigs rather than just moving everything back to the academy.

I'm in full agreement with you. I hope the Octagon continues to get bookings, despite the limitations it has in scheduling as a multi-purpose venue. I know some people don't like it, but it works well for me and agree there's a better bar and the sightlines are good. The O2 was never my favourite, but if we get more chances at tours stopping by, I'm very happy to see it reopen.

Pleased as punch to hear about a potential O2 reopening. Loathe Octagon, to the point I'd probably just rather go over to Leeds/Manchester date instead. No atmosphere whatsoever. Every gig I've been there feels like being in a village hall. Thornbridge on tap is nice though. But you can 100% tell it's a Uni space not a dedicated venue for live music.

Amazing how opinions differ.  I love it there and glad the O2 closed and allowed it to have gigs again.  The sound is far superior to the O2 and view is great from anywhere.

Probably nostalgia but I saw some great gigs in the 90s at Octagon so harking back to those.

An old favourite of mine too, I remember seeing The Jam (and many others)  there back in 1979.

I'm with you on sound quality. Never had issues with that at the Octagon.

Yep, he posted a similar one on BlueSky last night. One thing we know for sure, it's not Tramlines! And very unlikely to be another Sheffield date... wondering if maybe Lytham, Forwards, Come Together...? Probably not quite big enough for BST unless they are filling the Hugh Jackman gap

That's good. Didn't realize it was closed tbh but I've been there once or twice, and it's a great venue (well, two venues really, isn't it? I remember wandering from the smaller venue to a gig in the big venue completely unopposed lol).

2026 survey completed

I asked for

Massive Attack

The Cure

Self Esteem

Suede

Yard Act

The Hives

I fully realise RLT is the only feasible one of those three headliners!

My 'realistic' picks were :

Inhaler (who I think are ready to Headline) - Blossoms - Tom Grennan

CVC - Self Esteem (although hoping she will sub Pulp) - Shed Seven

I have stopped asking for Gerry Cinnamon as he seems to have disappeared.

I'm hoping they are more ambitious than Blossoms (forever a sub), and Inhaler are on the second line for NBHD this year, so possibly not quite there yet.

What can I say, I'm an eternal optimist 😂

In other Sheffield music news, it looks like the Leadmill saga is coming to a head. Judge has ruled against them and council has blocked planning to demolish the interior (stupid vindictive idea) if/when they finally get evicted. Let's hope we"re not without another key venue for any length of time whilst it all gets sorted.

Just think Blossoms have completely upped their game and absolutely smashed the Wythenshawe Park gig last August.

Inhaler are going from strength to strength and now have 3 brilliant albums, selling decent size venues and have a big 15 to 25 following.  Its time the Festivals took a punt on the up and coming bands as opposed to the usual suspects.  Appreciate Reytons headlining this year but they wouldn't anywhere else in the Country.  Personally I'm not a fan but they will probably go down well.

I could see Inhaler headlining Live at Leeds park gig next year. Better demographic for them to be a big draw.

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
