The announcement was that EC will take place between the 16th and the 20th of July, but there are some hints about Justin Timberlake on the walls, in the city of Cluj-Napoca. The font that was used is very similar to the fonts that Electric Castle usually use in their designs.

Is this festival worth a visit? Been visiting Sziget since 2018 but I'm starting to lose faith in it. Are the vibes similar? I prefer to listen to live music as much as possible, so Sziget's direction doesn't really match my taste.

It's more like a festival for locals, you wont meet many foreigners. The shows are starting late and the parties are until the morning. During the day nothing is there so you can spend the time in Cluj.

I wouldn't compoare the two... Sziget is huge with so much going on. Electric Castle is quite small and while there are parties going on after the bands, it's nothing like Sziget. EC is also very disorganised - this year, so many bands pulled out and they didn't even bother to replace them. QOTSA dropped out and there was no replacement at all.

They also tried to charge for every little thing - you have to register your ticket for some reason and anyone who didn't was charged extra money at the entrance. Also saw police going round peoples' lodges with snifer dogs, actively trying to find people with drugs so they could arrest them. There were quite a few problems with this festival so I wouldn't go back...

two important names missing from this poster variant (not sure why): sofi tukker and the sisters of mercy

Yep, interesting... the variant is an actual screenshot of their announcement video

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
