Who puts the wristbands on the famous?

My friend was managing a pedestrian gate a few years ago for oxfam and had to stop Emily Eavis as she was with someone without a wristband. Took a few radio calls and got sorted but he did get a pat on the back for being diligent. He also stopped a senior police officer who didn’t have the required wristband - he wasn’t best pleased…

So does even Elton get told you can only have a certain number of people?

yes.

I suspect that it's part of the artist contract negotiations - it's not so much that he's 'told', it's that he agrees with the festival what allocation he gets.

It's like that with all the big festivals. They agree on a certain number of passes for guests. They advance the crew lists and the number of passes they need for the crew. They also advance the separate stage wristbands the crew need to access the Pyramid or Other Stage production areas. They have a separate list for the viewing areas that their guests can use to see the performance, and this isn't tied to their wristband list. I also believe that the larger crews don't actually receive festival passes for the touring crew, but instead just have the stage wristband and never leave the Pyramid or Other Stage Production areas.

Oxfam on vehicle gates just check artist tickets....rip Emily named ones, leave Michaels.....no idea why the difference and then they get wristbands at the stage/area further down. Lots of smaller ones but got to do Billie eilish tickets, Dave, and the good the bad the queen. For others we had no idea who they were, we just said 'great to see you' .

Don't really remember artists with wristbands on stage, not at the pyramid anyway. Presumably they'll have some sort of laminate they use.

When you look closely it's pretty common even amongst Pyramid acts - especially earlier in the day where they intend to go exploring after. Sometimes when it's a name value act you'll see wristbands on the "hired hand" backing musicians but not on the named act - Lionel Richies set being an example.

There's also the acts who seemingly take pride in wearing a wristband - Shirley Bassey was a notable example of that, she obviously didn't need to wear one (or at least, could have removed it during the performance) but kept it on presumably deliberately.
