If you didn't know stages......

In my ideal world, every area that currently has it, plus other and pyramid, would get their own lineup posters, but all the set times and artists on the smaller stages would only be revealed in the small and big pamphlets you get when you arrive. That way you still get to discover new artists before the fest, during the fest, and have no idea how your weekend is gonna plan out right until you enter the gates

Sounds terrible.

Imagine turning up, thinking you're going to see, I dunno Radiohead* and The Flaming Lips that festival, only to find out at the last minute that you had to choose.

I'm all for a good bimble and following instincts and all that, but being told you can't see two of your favourite bands after all? Fuck that.

*Cue people saying they left Radiohead and saw the Lips because they were shit yada yada.

That exact scenario is the best argument for doing it. If that had happened, I probably wouldn't have had a Radiohead Bore talking me into choosing them over the Lips, and I'd likely have made the right choice that night and gone to The Park.

So everyones in favor of making it how it was 50 years ago. I mean its not far fetched that a good amount of attendees have zero clue who is even performing anywhere since theyre blitzed out of their minds all weekend.

and in regards to people having little knowledge to the lineup well I very much saw that in action myself just chatting to people on weds and thurs. Apparently I was an encyclopedia in terms of lineup knowledge when talking about it to someone.

How would you feel if you knew WHO was playing Glastonbury and on WHAT day but not the stage? Would you be happy to wait right up until the festival until you found out? Obviously not being able to figure out rough clashes or who you will see?

I don't mean even the exact stage times, just not knowing what stage?

I'd definitely go see The Who if they were playing Glastonbury. Never heard of On What Day though, I'll check them out...

They said today they were going to announce stage splits as soon as they can.  It's easier there anyway as there are fewer stages and it's so compact to get from one to another.

Yeah it takes two minutes to get between stages there.

I am going to BT as well and am not fussed that we don't have stage splits yet.

Did you try get in woodland for later gigs last year?

I’m not a Radiohead fan (my wife made me go) but I was completely blown away and still rank that set as the best live performance I’ve ever seen 🤷‍♂️

In theory I like the idea of rocking up with no clues, getting a programme on the way in and planning your Fri-Sun whilst there.  The reality however is there are just too many stages and acts for this to be practical so it would probably stress me out!

As it is I like the drip feed of stages releasing line ups, coming on here for recommendations and then listening to new acts.  Every G I end up finding 1-2 acts that I'd previously never heard of and falling in love with them.  I'd really miss that.

doesn't really matter, I see a name I want to see and never get round to seeing them, simples.

Yeah watched Hooky in there on Saturday night.

I would hope that the new stage and layout will make a difference in that they won't need to put such big acts in the Woodland so it should hopefully impact on the queues.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
