Electric Castle, a festival that takes place in Bontida, Cluj County (Transylvania, Romania), announced Gorillaz and Deftones today. 21 pilots were already confirmed last year.

for the record, the promoters of the main festivals are pushing for a restart of the events this summer based on vaccine proof or a negative test in the last 48h (this was the official proposal of the culture minister). i am very skeptical on it being approved as Romania was one of the few countries that never allowed gatherings of more than 500 people since the start of the pandemic, not even on stadiums. this was announced one week ago and no news since then.

some restrictions are being dropped starting 15th of May: no masks in open air (if not a crowded area), no daily curfew, 25% capacity for outdoor sporting events

no news about big open air concerts and the clock is ticking.

Electric Castle is now officially postponed to 2022. The organizers announced they managed to keep the headliners: 21 pilots, Gorillaz & Deftones.

Electric Castle festival from Romania also announced that they are going to organize a festival this year, but a kinda different one (maybe a very light edition, as they kept their headliners for the next year's edition). Enter EC_Special, a festival that will take place in 2 different places: at the Banffy Castle in Bontida, Cluj County (where Electric Castle usually takes place) and also in Cluj-Napoca city. The festival in Bontida is between 6-8 august, meanwhile the one from Cluj-Napoca is between 9-15 August. It looks like there will be also a special stage in the center of Cluj-Napoca. There is no lineup yet, but we know the ticket prices:

As I could stay for free at Cluj (family), I hope the line-up will be good as we can easily travel to Romania now! Any clue for the line-up as the big headliners are postponed to 2022?

Don't hold your breath for big names. Prices might be close to the regular festival, but i don't expect any big artist on this event. I think most of them will be local artists with a few medium sized and smaller european names. Probably the biggest concerts will be held in the Unirii stage and will require a separate ticket.

For example, Summer Well in Bucharest is holding a "limited" edition in the same period, with a similar price range as a "normal" edition, but its biggest names are Modeselektor, Woodkid and Balthazar. 

The bands pool for the events that will go on this summer is very limited.

people are very pissed off about how they went about this.

as I said, the biggest names are in the unirii stage and require a special DAILY ticket, however some went and bought early bird for the other two events which contain very few well known artists. It is a bit expensive for the Romanian crowd, but I think the main problem is the lack of proper communication about how their line up will be split.
