searches at the gates

I'm gonna be arriving tomorrow morning after a 6am coach from Southampton. Just wondering how thorough the searches at the gates have been? Also have sniffer dogs been used much? I have a very unfortunate allergy to dogs.

 I would not worry about getting searched at the gate, but there may be a search of the 6am coach from Southampton.

only festival i've ever seen dogs at was radio 1s big weekend in hackney, but that was hackney...

Keep away from Boomtown then - they have about 12 on the go constantly on Thursday afternoon

yeah i've done many weekend festivals but have only seen dogs being used at Boomtown and at Field Day which is also in East London. Was just wondering as I'd heard security had stepped up a bit this year

I get what you mean. We usually cut a small hole in the lining of our sleeping bag, stash in there and then stuff a few boxes of them nice strong smelling tumble dryer sheets inside. Masks any smells quite well. Should think you'll have nothing to worry about re the dogs though.

wicked thanks for the advice! I've never actually gone to much effort to hide the bits and bobs that I've taken with me before but think I'm gonna make more of an effort this year.

As long as it's not on display in your bag it should be OK.  By the sounds of it, there have been a lot more searches but no more thorough than usual

 If anything just a cursory look inside bags for bottles and the likes

I went to On Blackheath in East London. The searches they do there are to check that your hummus is organic, all very middle class, middle age.
