Camping at pylon

Anyone camped at pylon?

Fancy a quieter field for the few hours sleep we'll get and its close to coach entrance so not much of a trek there and back so I'm swaying towards this field.

Think it'll be ok if it rains? (Which it won't) There's been some downpours this weekend! Don't mind partying at a wet muddy festival (which we won't have!) just don't fancy sleeping in puddles lol

I camped there in 2014 and it was fine. Far enough away to get a nights sleep but not too far to walk, either to the main stages or from the car when you arrive. 2014 was reasonably wet but campsite was totally fine. Lots of space around us too which was great.

Camped in Darble last year and will again this year I think.

I camped there in 2011 and it was fine but can be a bit of a trek. It's on a slight hill in places if you're worried about heavy rain but don't camp under the pylons as they can be noisy.

We now camp in Bushy because it's that one field closer and still nice, quiet and chilled like Pylon is.

I find both fields have space and a similar atmosphere. Only complaint is there's not enough toilets in Bushy and the one tap is nowhere near the toilets either.

ThaThanks everyone, think i'll defo  camp there then.

Always camped in oxylers and the noise doesn't bother me at all but my bf doesn't sleep well in noise.

Don't mind the trek as we will only be in the tent to sleep so the walk will tire us out lol. We'll have a look at bushy as well, prob better that wee bit closer :)

Camped there last year. Nice quiet field with plenty of room to pitch up in on wednesday evening. A bit of a trek to the south side of the festival by handy for the JP and Silver Hayes. Also compost toilets! A hassle free field.

Completely agree with this. And I turned up last year Thursday afternoon and 3 of us pitched tents together. Never feel overcrowded. An easy walk back to tent as not much of a hill to tackle.

There in 2013 I think - and it was lovely and quiet.  Fairly muddy that year and the hills up to the field got quite slippy, but no mishaps.  Quite far away from where we were most of the time, so avoided tent returns as much as possible - but I remember I did quite enjoy the stroll back across the site to there in the early hours.

Darble, Pylon and Bushy, Rivermead etc are all quiet at nighttime. Neighbours are friendly (like anywhere, it requires you to speak to them for that to happen) It can be a trek to certain bits of the site but I much prefer closer to the exit, so carrying your stuff for less time then being in a prime location. We only sleep in the tent so there's never really a need for it to be in a good location. Compost toilets are a bonus to!

Although Bushy do need to work on the amount of toilets and number of taps!

Tent is defo just for sleeping!

Only thing we'll be trekking back for is to pick up more drinks so should only need to go back to the tent maybe once a day for re-fills which is fine.

Good to know there won't be much tripping up over tents as well when it's dark :D
