Fuck all. Offered refunds and gave Eels a boost up the bill and a longer set

Sorry, how could I forget. They booked Major Lazer for a late afternoon slot as a replacement and then bumped eels up. People were furious but give them their dues, Major Lazer had the biggest crowd I've ever seen on the main barring Foo Fighters

At the time, rumours doing the rounds that Price was in contention. In the end Major Lazer did a great job and, as I was looking forward to seeing Neil Young and disappointed he didn't play, I just went back to the hotel instead of watching Eels (because I am a petulant child).

Moving Jess Glynne to Main seems like the best option, unless they can drag someone else in at the last minute.

Someone suggested on Facebook moving Craig David (big artist for Dance Hall) to the Main Stage...

His new show is just him on his own singing whilst he DJs. It's decent but he'd look lost on the Main Stage - Dance Hall is the right venue.

Jess Glynn is the obvious choice, surprised she wasn't Main in the first place. Not sure how popular she is in Belgium but she's pretty much on all the Main Stages at UK fests this summer.

Think Jess Glynne would be great in the late afternoon sunshine, as said before, surprised she wasn't on the main in the first place. Possible contenders for me are..

Years and Years, Jon Newman, Tinie Tempah (please no) and maybe at a push the Kaiser Chiefs.

There's always an outside chance it could be something completely different....Skunk Anansie are around as are the Hives.

Still reckoning on Jess Glynne though. Chk Chk Chk would be a welcome replacement for her if that was the case.

It's only been 24 hours since Halsey cancelled so there's still time. Problem is that all the bands are already on the road and most have very detailed itinerary's that can't always be adjusted at short notice. See that Lukas Graham's spot has been left blank so suggests they might have someone in mind (or are at least looking). If we do get a replacement then it will likely be a local act to play early, with everyone else moving up a place.

Interesting to see they've been given an extra 15 minutes as well. Time to fit in 3 more songs I've never heard of.

Another few, hopefully final questions.

whats the weather looking like for anyone that's actually nearby just now (weather sites conflicting).

and do we need to print off the drinks vouchers or do they just accept them if you show on your phone?

I'd print them off.

They will accept them on your phone (and your festival ticket too) but as Dave said it's not a bad idea to have them printed as back up. I've saved mine in ibooks and you can access the documents even when the phone is in airplane mode.

Looks like a few of the times have adjusted slightly. Snakehips are losing 15 mins (which is going to Charlotte de Witte) MK has lost half an hour to Palms Trax.

This local TV station has a few reports from the festival. It's obviously all in Dutch but plenty of images of the site. There's a couple of reports on the metal detectors they'll be using. Got 26 in all and everyone will need to go through one before entering the arena. Guess it will be the same as airports in that everything will have to come out of pockets before stepping through (belts off but doubt you'd have to remove shoes too?) . Will make smuggling booze virtually impossible and anything else more difficult. It's gonna slow entry down but who knows by how much?

Safe journey Johnny

It's a pretty much in and out journey for me. Flying from Manchester to Charleroi on Thursday morning so will get to the site mid afternoon and back home from Eindhoven airport Sunday afternoon, which isn't as big a maul as feared. Am heading out to the Algarve on the Tuesday after and having already done Primavera in June, Cheapness of everything was of paramount importance this year. Cheap accommodation was a bit thin on the ground this year, so I'm staying at the H Hostel right near the train station. Sharing a dorm with 5 complete strangers isn't ideal, especially with me knocking 40 but at just over 20 quid a night including breakfast I can't complain, well hopefully I won't have cause to complain. I imagine that most of the residents will be going to the festival as well.

For those who are interested, which won't be many...I'll be in the Irish Times on the Saturday for at least the first half of the Man City v Stoke game at half one. if anyone fancies a pint in Hasselt before the last days madness.

Really looking forward to this now.

Hello all!

Just seeing the tents have sold out for the camping relax site and I stupidly waited until now to try and get one. Would I get one OK in Hasselt and it is it convenient to get to and from the town from the festival? Travelling over from Ireland so don't really fancy lugging one the whole way haha.

Sorry if these questions have been asked before! First timer and all that

The sports direct in Hasselt is probably your best bet for a tent. 10 minute walk from Hasselt station. They'd have the pop up ones there i'd imagine.

Thursday is no longer sold out, you can get tickets on the website. Alternatively you can try http://www.2dehands.be/ or http://www.marktplaats.nl/ which are the Belgium and Dutch equivalents of gumtree for cheap tickets. You should be able to get a combi for around 125 euros upwards. Also check twitter or facebook, plenty on there.

Ah super, cheers buddy!

No worries. They definitely have an outdoor section but can't remember seeing tents but I'm sure they'll have the small pop up ones. Demand might be quite high that weekend as well!

    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
