... What tends to happen with this in the case of any cancellation?

Let's assume they were on for £100,000, now they've already jumped Florence up, I'm sure they won't have to necessarily pay her any more, as the real benefits for her come from the coverage and exposure.

Would this £100,000 then go straight to charity do you think? Or rolled over next year if they are re-booked?

If it's rolled over, they're still in effect + £100,000. It would be nice if this didn't just go straight back into the pot, and if it went to charity or was used in a way which would benefit the farm for future years.

I've looked at these contracts before... often the artist gets paid a few weeks in advance and keeps the cash even if there's some sort of incident like this.

 

Will be interesting to see how it plays out... I'd expect the Foos wouldn't seek to hold onto the cash, but they might be entitled to.

problem is a claim of this size on the insurance will surely see a rise in the premium in future years. Definitely a bad thing for the festival, unless the foo fighters hand it back.
