Hi all!

We've been going to Glasto for about 10 years as a big group with massive tents but as there are only 2 of us ladies going this year (without the 1 year old, WOOP!) we decided to opt for Worthy View. Despite our best efforts we could only get hold of a 2 person scout which we're hoping to trade in for something a bit bigger, however whatever we stay in, we're looking for some advice / info please!

As we're used to having mahusive tents with lots of gazebo and seating space, is there scope to put anything up outside your tent for sitting? We're freaking out about having breakfast / late night drinks & chats in a tiny tent you can't stand up in, never mind getting dressed! Looking at photos of the site it looks a bit errr regimented with nothing whatsoever outside any of the tents. We're hoping this is because the photos were all taken before anyone got there! We're also worried about not having enough room in the tent to keep our bags, willies etc. Do they allow you to put any little pop up tents up for storage.

Are we being over dramatic and panicking as we're used to having so much space? We know you can't have everything and are probably being divas but we just want to be comfortable.

Any advice and tips you can give us to get us more excited about this unknown territory will be greatly appreciated. Be great to make some Worth View pals before we get there too!

Thanks guys :-)

Ha ha ha, no willies here so don't need to worry about cramming them in. After years or trudging for miles with sh*tloads of stuff in the pissing rain and roasting sun us 2 tiny little ladies decided enough was enough! Our tents are huge and we didn't want to have to buy a new one for this one year as we'll all be back with kids next time in the big uns.

No room to put anything up like a gazebo outside your tent at WV. It is very much like a regimented scout camp. But you do have space outside for camping chairs etc. Lots of room inside tents and in porch area, depending of course on the size of your appendages. But....remember you can leave stuff in your car and pop back to get it as needed. It literally takes 5 mins to walk between the two (yeah, I know right!!!!).

We're 4 (should have been 5, but our friend finally lost her battle with cancer before Xmas) staying in an 8 man scout at WV this year, so might see you :girlhaha:

5 minutes to the car. Absolute bliss! Look out for us!

Honestly, this is THE reason we have started staying at WV. The walk from the car parks to main site camping spots has just got longer and longer over the years, to the point where in the hot June sun, it's "hell on toast" (to quote one of our crew)!! We're the ones with the pink flying pig on the end of a flagpole ;-)

(And thanks for your kind words of sympathy xxx)

The scout tents are a good size and most people are typical nice glasto folk, how ever you cant pitch anything else and on a night the site is scary quiet! One night we had a complait for blowing up an air bed! appx12:00 However you do have the "viliage green" that has light music and a late bar!

The walk from the car park is brillaint with wheel barrow assistance! Cant knock it! however I would rather one hellish trip from the car to the main on the first day than hack the hill everyday! Our group was aged 19 - 25 and even we thought it was abit much! When it all came down to it this year we looked at the pros and cons and decided not to go for it.

What I will miss this year is the view, Showers and Toilets!

We did WV the first year. It was ok but I always felt like I wasn't properly "in" the festival and that hill at the end of the day is hard. You never feel like you can just pop out again and you certainly can't pop back so you have to take everything for your day (warm layers for example). We made hefty use of the lock-ups on site - we kept a couple of chairs there that we could re-deposit in the evening when we didn't want them any more.

The pros are that you don't need to be there early to get your pitch which means driving in is a doddle and being 5 minutes from the car is great. It saved us the price of a hotel the night before. However last year they put the price up (they did away with the cheapest option) which meant it just wasn't worth it and we figured we could just as easily camp further out, not have to deal with the hill and not have to pay for the privilege.

With regard to your original question, you can't have any additional structures but, to be honest, there's no atmosphere there so I see no reason why you'd want to hang around anyway. You're better off using the Village Green for you nightcap / breakfast and just using your tent as a bedroom.

Thanks so much guys for your tips. The last few years we've been right up by the farm up a massive hill as our big tents needed so much room so we're used to a good climb back! We were going to take a camper van but that fell through so we were always prepared for a walk back at night. Using the lock ups is a great idea, we've never done that before.

We like to go back at night and sit and reflect with a beverage (or 27) so we'll use the village green for that.

This will probably be the last time I'm there without a little un so we'll be back in the fold then with the big tents again! It will be nice to try something different for one year. I'm sure we'll find plenty of faults but I'll be surprised if ANYTYHING is bad enough to outweigh those hideous trecks to and from the car on the 1st and last days. I still have nightmares of standing drenched to the skin in torrential rain for almost an hour at the top of the evil hill as it was too slippy to let people down. All our stuff was soaked through in our bags and it was too wet to dry them. HIDEOUS!

I suppose we can keep things in the car too and can get dressed where the showers are. SHOWERS!!

Delighted to hear there's a good view. That's one thing we've had with our pitch in recent years, an awesome view of almost the whole sight. Loved sitting outside the tent at night just taking it all in and was worried the hedges would stop you being able to see much up there.

Thanks again for all your advice. Really do hope we see some of you there. We'll find something to stick on our tent and let you know what it is!

Still holding out for a bigger one. Keep everything crossed for us! :-)

The scout tents are a pretty decent size with a porch area for boots etc. Personally I thought the pod pads were really small - ok for 2 friends in small bunks. The 2 person yurts were also small - ok for a couple! We had a bell tent which I loved - room to stand up, sit in a chair (in the dry on rainy mornings). Easily big enough for 4, like a house for two! The view comes with the climb but I agree for not carrying your stuff :( it wins on the proximity to the car park!

Hi guys. My wife and I are travelling over from N.Ireland. We are both Glasto first timers! I see from previous comments that u can leave belongings in the car, sounds pretty handy! Any good tips or advice u can give us? Cant wait now!! PS.. Whats the showers like? My wife is worried about them!!

You can leave belongings in the car and it's a pretty short walk... but in terms of leaving valuables it's still only a field with security wandering round occasionally.

Showers - there were often lengthy queues at peak times last year and the water pressure was variable but they were clean and hot. They could do with more of them this year.

Nice hot showers. Bit of a queue to get in, but waited no longer than 45 mins around 9:30/10. Walked straight in at 8:30 one day. Was nice to chat to other campers, whiled away the time :) Women's has a communal changing room, then one communal shower block (10 or 12 shower heads with small screen between each) and one private block of fully enclosed individual showers. The communal shower has less of a queue for it. Advise that if you're shy, just wear a swimming cossie - about 30% of women do, 70% don't. I'm in the 'don't care' camp, as you only leave your towel behind when a shower becomes free, then you're only in there for 3 mins at most and to be frank, who's looking?! Next door to the showers is another marquee with hairdryers, straighteners and mirrors. However, you can take your own in and just plug in (which is what I'll be doing this year - no wait to use just the plugs!). The young girls that staff the showers and changing rooms are lovely and helpful too. Hope that helps! xx

Thanks guys. Clean and hot showers sounds good to me! I had heard that there are communal showers, I would be in the 'don't care' camp too. We didn't know about the straighteners, etc.. Thats made her even happier!!

any tips on best time to leave worthy view in car on monday morning!! cheers

I think I left around 11ish last year and there was no queues at all as the car park was quite empty, in fact I think quite a lot left on the Sunday night. I don't think you'll have too much hassle whenever you leave.
