I guess I was stood next to you.

No, No, No. No. I know I posted it, but I would never, ever, ever be the one filming this, never. I was close by for sure, but using my eyes, ears and brain to asimilate this, not my fucking phone. How Rude :)

We saw the film earlier in the Palais, and whilst it was great (vocals, performance, energy), I decided on John Grant and Jack White (am I on the right night?). John great, Jack Shite.

Did it get any better that that?

The first part is gash (I thought so at the time), but check out the end part of it (from around 11.30).

Ignoring the poor quality recording (and the fact that recordings are never quite the same as being there), and the bits where he's introducing the band, there's absolute perfection in Kev's voice at points (not all points, admittedly). The only other singer I've seen hit those heights by their timing and soulfulness-of-voice is Robert Plant.

Of the bits of the set I saw (I didn't see it all) that was what blew me away and made getting there to see it worthwhile.

Watched it all back and it's a long way from what I would choose as entertainment but agree his voice is superb in places.

Sounds like a bad Future Islands *ducks* :P

Actually quite enjoying it at the moment, although he doesn't seem to be doing much singing as yet, currently at 17:00

EDIT: Just listened to the rest of it, I'll have to take your word for the quality of his voice, I could hardly hear it. He didn't seem to be singing much at all. I think you had memory aided hearing on watching that video. Then again, I've had his voice slightly ruined for me because I knew Sean Hughes impression of it before I heard the genuine article (Come On Eileen aside), so I've never really been able to take him seriously. Always found his voice a bit thin for my liking too.

Glad you enjoyed the performance, certainly seemed like there was magic in the tent from the audience reactions.

    • Olivia Rodrigo is here. There's no way though, right?? I'd miss mbv for her I think
    • So, when will we know what's in our Occident mistery box? I hope they'll end the guessing game and tell us before
    • What I didn't like was Pinkpantheress set. Coming from Jade, it was impossible to get even a half-decent spot. You could manage to get a decent-ish view, but the sound was just terrible.

    • Standardly perfect day at Primavera yesterday.   Highlights:   Rilo Kiley - kinda smallish crowd, comparing to Geese, but man, they sounded great.   The Cure - finally saw them for the first time and loved every minute (left during Close to Me).   Jade (arrived during FUFN) - amazing voice, perfect vibes, great show.   The Levi's Plaza - I went there just after Somos la herencia and when I decided to take a pee break and saw the line of people waiting to get inside to see Rose Gray, I rescheduled the pee break for later. She had a fun little set in front of a very small (but very dedicated) audience. I don't understand why the capacity limit of this stage was so low. However, MANY people were watching from outside the "plaza". If you're looking for a feeling of exclusive experience and dedicated crowd and have 30 minutes to spare, this is the right stage. Also, to whoever recommended Babymorocco, thanks, it was kinda silly, but very high energy set. I would definitely come back to this stage today, if not for the clashes.
