Thinking about Stonehenge this year...woukd like to do henge and hang around till Tuesday then straight off to Glastonbury!

There's a fantastic camp site near to Stonehenge, but it can get booked up well in advance, particularly for the night/ morning of the solstice itself..Although you can stay in your car or campervan overnight at the stones themselves for the solstice.

Maybe worth having a look at the campsite if you fancy hanging around till Monday as they may have space Saturday and Sunday nights possibly...They had a mini festival thing going on last year, which was great. http://www.stonehengecampsite.co.uk/

I got in a right panic when I realised Glastonbury wasn't on the solstice, had to double check my train tickets

How stringent are the searches to get into stonehenge for the solstice? I understand the no glass rule but the booze limit is a little tight.

Heading to Avebury for the Solstice ,have done for many years ,Stonehenge just isn't worth the hassle any more for me.

I've been once to stone henge solstice, last year, and I had a pretty good time. The atmosphere was great, there were many friendly people wanting to engage in conversation and activities: yoga, frisbee, limbo, chanting etc. decent food stalls and free food from the hare krishna guys on the way out.

however there was drug dealing and me and my friends were offered lsd but theres a police presense and many of them get caught. we forgot to bring booze but i think we could have gotten away with some excess drinkage.

I'm going again this friday and really looking forward to it.
