So this year I'm going to be crew camp site stewarding.

Anyone on here that's worked before got any tips for working/stewarding?

Is it true you can use the Pyramid to Other stage short cut?

Enjoy working. Don't expect many perks, but the few you do may slightly offset the hours of "being on duty and missing out of XYZ".

Above all, enjoy being on the team of crew that tire away all year behind the scenes to ensure that the public paying punters get what they are paying for. - Safe, good entertainment.

Welcome to the team!

never been a steward but have worked at Glasto since 1989
who told you that you could use the shortcut ?
sure if you know the person on the gate ' but a normal crew wristband will not get you though that gate '
if you are working in the crew campsite then for sure you will not be issued a Hospitality wristband .
at one time they were not a wristband - they were a access laminate so dead easy to get loads of people in but that was many years ago.
depending where your camping it may be in a ' general crew area ' - my crew camp is next door to security so I can walk past their camp but I cant walk into their camp and Vice versa - some crew camps have bars ' others don't ' and they tend to be cheaper than the onsite bars - £2 for a pint and in some there is a ' general crew bar ' but again its all down to location - some have them some don't.
the big advantage is ' crew camps are far more secure ' - we have extra security who will Jump on anyone not displaying photo ID so theft is very rare and the extra facilities make all the difference.

Ah that's a shame I was looking forward to the short cut.

We're apparently stewarding the crew camp site next to the Pyramid stage. I'm assuming this is the one between Pyramid and SH. But nothings concrete yet. Just what I've heard from my friend.

well that may be different but that compound has a lot less camping areas than it used to have - most of the crews are on the outskirts.
Clearly if it is { the BBC has a campsite for sure } then of course you will end up with a Hospitality pass { or a crew Hospitality pass }
There is a large crew campsite but its behind the other stage but once in you can easily cut across.

Some good things about working.

Showers

Cleaner toilets (possibly)

Slightly less mashed brain at the end

No worry about getting in & tent pitch

Easy Interaction with people

Save a few quid.

I'm working for the first time this year too. Can anyone tell me where the 'red' crew gate is? I know it's close to the bus station but where exactly? Also, if I'm dropped off on Tuesday morning, can we get within walking distance of the gate or would it have to be Bath & West? Just wondering about bringing a trolley which might be difficult on a transfer bus.

look at map - just above VG5 { top }

I don't want to misdirect you as you have not said who you are working for

If you are picking up a pass { at red gate } then provided you have a letter then Security will let you walk down - you can get dropped off by the side of the road as there is no real traffic to hold up.

But you need to double check with who your working with as some Crews enter using a different gate.

Big warning - if you have to go to a portacabin make bloody certain you have their number as some years there can be 50 or more portacabins and double check when they are open { don't assume - double check }

Each year I see people wandering about with no real idea where to go - GFL Security may or may not know where your supposed to go.
