2 brilliant posts on the trot, thanks lads, no likes to give (who here agrees that Neil should give an extra like or 2 per day allowance to people with membership? *cough*).

soz .... I just looked to see if I could do that, but unfortunately there's no function to alter the number of likes by member group. :(

But what i did discover is that I could turn back on the negative part of the reputation system, so I have done. :)

He said the scout tents are expected to last 15 years, so that's far more environmentally friendly than all the tents that are left behind each year.

but, rather weirdly, less environmentally friendly than a £10 quid tent that's used for many festivals over a small number of years. ;)

I think the theory is to highlight unacceptable posting - abuse, racism, sexism, insensitivity, etc. Like I said before I've seen forums where a certain level of negative points lead to a temporary ban and drives the admin to investigate the cause.

However as you can imagine it can be abused quite a bit and just turns into complete chaos (mostly good-natured) with people downvoting because they don't agree, or deliberately chasing them in order to be the person with the worst reputaion and all that.

I've just found out that I am able to do that after all ... and so Gold members now have one extra positive and one extra negative point to give out in any 24 hours than standard members.

(standard members get 3 of each)

But note that I've also just found where to switch on the feature that allows a person to see who has given them those positive or negative votes (I'm guessing you'll find that info on your user profile page).

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
