Elton will do it one day. Whether it's next year or not, I don't doubt that he'll grace the stage at some point, purely from the point of the laws of probability that he's one of the few performers of his stature from that generation that's still performing that hasn't done it.

No they weren't. Dreadful bombastic nonsense, masquarading as sincerity. Laughable dolts with no self awareness. Rarely have I seen anything more cringe-inducing than the 45 seconds I caught of their set (The intro to Bittersweet Symphony).

In regards to Elton John playing, watched him to a duet with Rod Stewart on ITV (there was nothing else on to watch) and my god it was the most depressingly boring thing I've ever seen.

Seen him live once 15ish years ago. Tickets came up and I thought 'why not?'. Best random gig I have ever been too - or at least a close second to Prince. I have a broad range of (questionable?) tastes I might add. The set list above was pretty much what he played that night and it was a cracker. Headliner material without a doubt imho - too big for novelty legend (although I would not put Cohen down as a novelty and he played on a Sunday afternoon).

I would like this very much!
