Quite interesting, and I hope it goes through. It references how FFP is a way of maintaining the status quo and reducing competition, and it's excellent that it's being challenged on the grounds of fair competition.

The big thing for me about owner funding is that owners shouldn't be allowed to "donate" in terms of loans, it should be flat out funding, not then drawing the money later when they get bored, leaving the club in the lurch.

I'd love that. I really want us to get that, but every fan ownership scheme has gone tits up. Ashley's rejected 2 already saying they weren't "viable for the club long-term" but I expect that just means he feels he wouldn't get a big enough payday off it.

Have you got much of a stake in Pompey? (in terms of personal finances) I looked into committing a bit into several schemes to buy out Newc but none had legs.

Personally I own one share... Which you had to pay a grand for. The club is owned by the trust 60% and high net worth individuals 40%. Personally Im not sure its sustainable for us time will tell.

I think this season is massive for us. We need to keep the gates up as we are still struggling money wißse and will for another 5 years due to paying off former players etc... Sadly at the moment were struggling.

Sadly I think we need to sack whittingham thing is can we afford to sack him by the same token can we afford not to sack him?

Im not sure a fan owned club would be sutainable in the premiership. While many fans would like the idea of fan ownership, they are naturally inpatient and wouldn't be happy for long trying to compete with the lowest wage bill in the league. With the premiership being a capitalist dream, I just cant see fan ownership raising enough money to compete.

I think fans will be more patient if it's fan-owned rather than some rich businessman leeching profits out.

Yes, they were in the playoff final season before last with Colwyn Bay, and when they lost, they proceeded to kick off in big style fashion, which if i'm right, is the same as when they played Brighton in the FA Cup, i'm sure someone can confirm

So ... this weekend ... whose bubble is getting burst this week?

The biggest match is City v Everton. It'll be interesting to see who comes out on top in that one.

West Brom v Arsenal should be a good one too, which might give some sort of indication as to their relative strengths, or whether Utd got the baggies on a good day last weekend.

With Spurs hosting WHU, I'm guessing that north London are going to be top of the pile still at the end of the weekend, just not which team ... tho perhaps Liverpool will bang in a decent goal difference against Palace cos they've got a bit of a habit of that.

I also expect man utd to be amongst the goals against sunderland.

hmmmm, I was expecting them to give a better backlash-type performance last weekend, and they did tho they lost.

It's not impossible that they'll go one better this weekend, but that's more a comment on Sunderland than anything about Utd.

I think theres a big difference between sunderland and wba, the former stayed up because wigan were so bad in the league and havent strengthened. The former had a solid mid table finish last season.

oh c'mon ... you can't really say that Sunderland haven't strengthened, given that there's 14 new players in the squad but who have been playing for a manager they've hated.

It's quite possible there's a gem or two in there but we've yet to see that from them. They were definitely a much better team last weekend than they were under PDC.

I think it would depend on results on the pitch. Look at man utd, most of their fanbase couldn't care less about the glazers taking money from the club if they are lifting trophies.

Just not trying to curse it . Plus I don't think we're playing that well even if picking up results. Still expect us to be 5th-7th come May.

if we got took over by a fan-ownership scheme and then spent the first 5 years of it finishing 13th-15th (when right now I'd expect 9th-12th). Any prem club that isn't currently in Europe would probably be satisfied with lower positions in the table as long as they're not dragged into endless relegation battles.

What would happen if fan ownership meant you were finishing 19th/20th instead of 13th/15th. As someone who supports a fan owned club who are having a crap season, theres very little reaction to a team who loses matches than one who is owned by an unscrupulous owner.
