Planning v bimbling...

I am pleased to have inspired a thread!

I thought about things I have always meant to do, like hear Tony Benn, especially as we aren't planning to go to Glastonbury every year anymore, so without wishing to be morbid, we could run out of chances to do this.

I want to put just a few must sees down, and although this doesn't mean I won't see the other stuff that has already caught my eye, it means I know I can do other stuff without regretting missing some of these things.

I may also prevent myself from just rushing from one thing to another, checking the programme like a demented girl guide! I hate this facet of me Mr Amf calls it my 'Monica' moments! Even when we get our tent up - that moment everyone talks about, cracking open the first can - not me, I'm looking round for someone to help! Then he shouts at me 'Tent Monica! Just bloody sit down and have a beer!'

Tony Benn & The Rolling Stones are 2 'must sees' because if I don't do it now then I may never have another chance. Much as I like The Arctic Monkeys, I have seen them at Glastonbury before, and will probably get the chance to see them at Glastonbury again - so if I am enjoying something a bit off the wall elsewhere, they can be bumped.

I want to just not plan, but then I know I will get cross with myself for missing something, or I will be enjoying something else, but having a nagging doubt that I should be somewhere else. I used to go to Glastonbury when I was younger and barely see a band, now that I should have grown out of needing to see the latest noise, I seem to be completely led by it. I just want to make it stop.

It's good to have an idea of things you want to see, I think it helps build the excitement a bit. Like I know I definitely want to go to the NYC Downlow, make something in the craft fields, buy donuts from the Beat Hotel, spend a night in the Greenfields.. But I don't really have any specific plans, just some things that I want to do. What ever I end up doing it'll be amazing and there's too much going on at Glasto to make loads of plans.

If I can see three acts I really want to see and the rest of the time I'll just wander around. There's so much to see at Glastonbury so i don't want to waste my time watching bands I don't really care about.
