Whaaaaaaaaat :( He played to upwards of 25,000 at Glasto last year, how the fuck would you stick him in the Arena, you'd have to get in there mid-afternoon if you wanted a spot, ugh

Not if he's up against JT and somebody like Tinie Tempah on MTV stage.

I find it hard to think there were 25,000 people at the West Holts stage that night. Maybe there were

Arena headline.

Maybe even 4music, doubt that though.

I thought that too, but I was shot down pretty quick. I dont think his set would be the same if it was in the middle of the day in the light. He is headlining Bestival but i dont know if that has any bearing on what size crowd he would get at V. If the headliners for one night were

Main - JT

MTV - Avicii/any big DJ

Arena - Nile Rogers

I think the nile rodgers crowd would be smaller than 15000. I dont know the capacity of the arena, but my guess would be a few thousand so he could fill it, but I dont think he would warrant a second stage headline slot

I pray he will headline MTV on the opposite day to JT

Without sounding like a w*nker, the average Bestival and Glastonbury goer are going to appreciate Chic and Nile on a wider scale than an average V goer. I reckon most people who know of Nile only know he was involved with Get Lucky and have no idea about Chic. He'd probably fill the tent because it's not exactly big but it probably wouldn't have anyone under the age of 18 in it.

Most V goers know who they're seeing when the stages are split and are less likely to go out on a limb to see somebody like Chic. (complete generalisation there i realise but i stand by it.)

It's annoying though, because if Chic do play and there's a few other cheeky acts in there i'm going to end up going again for the fourth consecutive year after denying i would.

Haha, I was content with Rock Werchter a few weeks ago, then contemplated getting a T day ticket for Biffy, now I'm going for the full weekend at T. Bloody festivals.

He'll get a crowd half the size at V than he would at Glasto.

I know what yous mean but even if you halved his crowd from Glastonbury it'd still be what 10/12/15k. They had to shut the Arena last year for John Newman and Lianne La Havas so I'm guessing 15k would be at least triple capacity.

Maybe it's better if they don't play after all hahaha then we can just dream how could they could have been rather than knowing how squashed we actually were ;)

They'd be missing out, without even knowing them it'd be impossible not to have a good time, surely everybody knows the likes of Like A Virgin, We Are Family, Let's Dance, Le Freak, Good Times etc.

Man I wanna see them so much :(

You've just named five of the best-known songs of all time and they could also drop Wild Boyz, I'm Coming Out, He's the Greatest Dancer, Upside Down, Get Lucky, Lose Yourself To Dance.. why are V gonna stick this guy lower on the bill than some flash in the pan like Avicii* WHY :(

*oh look Avicii came up, what a coincidence, guess who produced Avicii's whole album including both writing and then playing the ridiculous guitar parts on 'Lay Me Down'.. ;)

I didn't want to go really (I'd rather use the money to do other things) but with the possibility of Timberlake and Nile Rodgers, its looking like I will give in :P

There's only a few people alive that I would consider worldwide legends, he is one of them.

Nile said he'd never play Get Lucky live because he considers it Daft Punk's song to play but then there was that weird thing at the Grammys where they played the first two thirds of it with Stevie Wonder who didn't know the words and then Daft Punk just randomly appeared behind the mixing desk and did a medley... so fuck knows where we stand with that. If they did drop it though it would be insaneeeeeeeeee

There's only a few people alive that I would consider worldwide legends, he is one of them.N

Not even debatable. The influence him and Bernard Edwards have had on modern music is just AHHHHH.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
