I cant really see myself ever going to Reading or Leeds unless 30 Second To Mars were on, then I would take my girlfriend as she wants to see them. I like the undercard more of R&L than the headliners, but I wouldnt pay the full price to see just the undercard but my taste 'is limited'

They're on an arena tour this year, take her there.

Yeah I could but there only doing a couple of dates arent they? like 3 or 4, I think thats what I saw on here, and i arent a fan of them so at least a festival there would be something else for me to do that day

Yeah IOW and no that was me saying I'd tell him how close his guess were :P

Okay, well I think if you knew for certain who will be there then you would have said already so people could talk about it, but its fun watching people guess and everything

I don't know for certain, I just know what rawaudioinput pm'd me with, which was what John Giddings has in mind for IOW2014, two of which he thinks are pretty much in the bag, because the two acts are keen to play the fest.

The only reason I'm not saying is because I promised him I wouldn't share it ;)

And rawadioinput knows it for certain, is he the person in the IoW thread that showed him their list of people they want to have at the fest and John wrote something down, as it to say thats a good booking if we got them?

nobody knows for certain not even John as it could fall through of course, I'm not sure about in the IOW thread, but yeah he put that in the R&L 2014 thread cause John also told him he thinks R&L are certain to get Arctics next year.

He doesn't want to say it in the forum because he thinks it might affect the booking if people start talking about it.

Im unsure about the ins and outs but is he likely spill the beans to a random person? Its not rocket science with the arctics to be fair, they are doing the early summer fests this year so obviously will do the late summer ones next year.

I just checked and yes he is, he wanted Depeche Mode, Muse and The Prodigy for headliners. I dont think John would be looking on here and thinking oh no people have talked about it so I wont book someone who I have nearly got signed and would be a big ticket pull

True, I dont see why he would spill to someone, but maybe they know each other or something. Why does it matter where in the summer the fest is, if Reading moved to beginning of summer for some random reason I dont see how Arctics would turn it down just because of the date

There is one act you might have to get ready for. - Coldplay (light sticks?)

Some people think this act could headline but John thinks they're wrong. Although putting an act after them could be a bit silly, or a bit of a protege. - Prodigy?

I picture this booking could sound surreal. - Clueless xD

A country band but not really. - Lumineers or Mumford

I haven't a clue, but of course it isn't a set in stone sort of thing

with the Arctics, I think R&L could get outbid by T/V, but apparently they're determined to get them no matter what

I think it's more people expect the bands, but it may still fall through, and then it'll look a bit shit for the fest if they were going to get certain bands, but ended up not getting them

Yeah they could hand light bands out to everyone, that HAS to work ;)

I think Prodigy would be able to headline and I dont see why John would mean they couldnt

I dont think Lumineers could headline, that one kind of leads to Mumfords or maybe Passenger :D

Not too many peole on here go to IoW although I might next year as my girlfriend goes most years, but she didnt go this year. Even if it fell through, as long as a reasonable replacement was found I dont think people would be too down about it.

Not to everyone, just chuck about 200 out into the audience LMFAO did at V.

And currently Passenger is a one hit wonder, if IOW would let him headline then they might as well let Chesney Hawkes, Rick Astley and Bob The Builder headline.

If John pulls it off I think I might go, although it may not be to your tastes

That means they are more suited to R&L or Download then which could mean the 3 that rawaudioinput suggested

Passenger has a couple of hits just not in UK...but I didnt mean him seriously I just thought of him as he came on TV earlier. I think he will be at a couple of fests next year, like T, V, IoW and Bestival, maybe Glasto if he can get Wrong Direction and Holes brought out on the next few months

I think V should go to 3 days and keep the price similar to what it is, as most peole complain that V is over priced because of it only being two days. Then they could have a guitar band, a pop act and a indie/mumfords type band. Then they could have Mumfords Kasabian and JT or something similar.

Would Kasabian not do European and UK fests the same year?

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
    • Yup and they aren't cheap   Glastonbury is different though, it's a place that will pack out for rarities they don't usually see. Download strictly speaking shouldn't be the strangest place for Avril to pop up of she had been a touring artist of longer times over the years.   Avril and GC would get the same billing for me and GC are selling arenas out quicker than Avril sold Ally Pally. Bearing in mind she'd pnly done soem Brixton dates before.
    • Avril gets above GC on rarity (see Cypress Hill this year). She drew in something like 70,000 at Glastonbury, so much so that they had to close the field off. I’d wager that she would get the biggest crowd of the entire weekend if she was to play DL.
