Most schools of thought here are correct, but I will add my 2 pence worth in anyway.

If you can get a 2010 Aussie Shiraz with at least 13% alchohol you are laughing, best vintage for years so even the boxes will have decent wine.

2011 not so good.

Again for the amount of wine you are getting I would pay up to 20 quid for a box.

You will have an enjoyable wine drinking week.

If anyone finds any let me know, as that is what I will be buying.

Don't take white and dont freeze it, ruins it.

Also I like to take a couple of Vodka and Oange mixes frozen and drink when dethawed, probably on the Thursday morning when still nice and cold its a great way to start the day.

Just bought a shopping trolley so should have room for heaps !!

you know, I'm going to chuck in what I think. Glastonbury is once a year, it's a celebration, spash another couple of quid, you can get some decent boxes for 16 quid or so, rather than 12 quid paintstripper, that's going to be about 15p more a glass for something drinkable and probably not such crippling hangovers. Maybe.

Depends on the wine though. Some of the cheaper stuff (not dirt cheap mind) keeps better in the sun/being opened/splashed about etc.

You need a robust red in my opinion. an approachable little number.

I'd go with a stronger red than 10%, and see if you can add some £ to the price to improve the chances of a better wine. I got a box at Asda last year for Beacons Festival, which was good and not expensive. I've also tried the Spanish red tetrapak in Sainsbury's for a cooking wine (including wine for the cook :thumbsu: ) which was ok. I've not tried many wines from Aldi but the spirits are great. If you're nervous about £15 on vinegar, are there bottles of the same wine which you can try first?

Any red wine at 10% - will mostly be shite for a kick off - but will also spoil easier. Think robust! Alcohol and sugar keeps the wine fresh for longer and means it wont spoil as quick in the heat/cold.

A weak as piss pinot grigio will taste like infected donkey jizz after being sloshed about in the heat. A big, ignorant filthy shiraz at 14% won't let you down. But it will give you a killer hangover.

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
