For every festival I do I go by a £50 a day rule. You can do far less but on that amount you can buy 7 drinks and 3 meals. I usually spend far more though.

Sounds about right but leave a bit more for the odd impulse buy... We picked up a didgeridoo last time around for the left-at-home son for a fiver (!) and other such stuff last thing on the Sunday....

Expect to have to queue for a cashpoint at least once - no matter how much you bring.

You can keep your cash in the lookups. Safe and usually no queues.

Is it possible to pay by debet or credit card at festival? Or is it only cash. Or preferably cash?

Only cash, a few places do all payment by card but not very many.

If you need to get cash out, don't do it in the mornings, evenings & night times are the best, no queues and they are open 24 hours a day.

I did IOW last year on £300 and brought some home again, i'd expect it to be even less at Glasto because you don't have any restrictions on the drinking

I'll use the cash machines at 'off peak' times to top up my cash, but as its my holiday for the year i'll be 'eating out' for my meals so I'll expect to spend between £50-£100 a day on food, booze, random purchases.

Also, dont tell anyone, but the mobile Natwest bank at the top of the site has always been quiet no matter what time of day I've been, probably cos its up a bitch of a hill!

Someone once told me few years back that the temporary Nat West branch cashed cheques free at the counter and that the queue for that was always shorter than the hole in the wall one
