How do we go from "if the US pulled out these problems would be solved" straight to "Germany managed to reunite without a Civil War, whose to say Korea couldn't?"

1) South Koreans don't want reunification

2) China doesn't want reunification

3) The North Koreans couldn't cope with reunification

Do you know the difference in economic performance between the two Koreas?

And why does the US have the military deployed there?

Presumably because it's main allies in the region- South Korea and Japan- want them there. There's a lot of mutual interests going on in the region, makes sense for them to defend it.

Mutual interest = ensuring they retain their power in the region. Am I the only one that thinks that is not a good reason to be there?

In fact while we are at it what about the opinions of the whole area? Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Macau, Taiwan, Australia, Brunai, Malaysia, Burma, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand etc don't they count, they are ALL US ALLIES.

...and now China are being critical, their opinion not count either?

The north korean position is clear though, the only reason they developed nuclear weapons and are kicking off now is because of the american presence, and the american war games (that are STILL going on! why dont they stop them immediately?)

There are historical reasons why korea and japan dont like each other, and as I'm sure you are aware, japan are not the good guys in all this! Besides, it is the MASSIVE american army base in okinawa that north korea are threatening anyway.

You may also note that the majority of japanese people want rid of the american army bases

Nobody else is concerned because it is north koreas borders that are being threatened and not theirs.

If america carry on with the wargames, then it is fine for north korea to continue to say "if you attack us, we will attack you". No?

Lets remember only one side has attacked the other in the last couple of years and that was the North shelling a South island.
