Nah. He paid for a look on a site with his credit card. Very naive.

The police raided the gaff and searched all of his PCs, history etc down to everything hes ever viewed and found nothing else.

yep, tho that might merely be the result of a thorough clean-up.

I was referring to statements he made that were designed to lessen the suspicion of him having a personal interest in the site(s?) he signed up to, which were denied as being true by the organisations he referred to.

as was the case with just about everyone arrested as a result of that leak of who had subscribed to that child porn site.

I can't believe they were all doing innocent research, can you? ;)

Oh I agree, but their support for rolf was nothing to do with that, it was based purely on an unwillingness to believe one of their childhood idols could possibly have been sat there with an erection while drawing pictures of those cartoons for kids

I dont recall any of them leaping to the defence of max clifford for example

I thought total clean ups were next to impossible

they're easy enough with the right software.

But who knows, perhaps he'd recently (to when the old bill raided him) had a hard disk fail so had replaced it, or had recently changed his computer.

There's all sorts of possibilities, and particularly when an individual knows he might be under suspicion - as would have been the case with Townsend, because knowledge of that website's subscribers list having been leaked and police action off the back of it was already public knowledge at the time they raided him.

After all, those who had been accessing that site would know their actions were illegal, and crims tend to try and cover their tracks.

While what i say above is merely speculation around facts, it is curiously odd that no images were found on Townsend's computer(s?). Who pays money to access a website but then doesn't access that site?

only if he wasn't telling the truth.

Absolutely right.

Do you have any reason to believe that he was over that he wasn't? Apart from your personal desire to not have a hero tainted, of course.

I'm not trying to say he's guilty, btw, just in case that's passing you by; but neither am I trying to say he's not guilty. The simple fact is that both you and me have no way of knowing which it is.

There are plenty of musicians I've 'fallen out' with due to certain aspects of their behaviour. If I thought there was more to this than what has been concluded, I wouldn't think twice about his guilt.

I've fallen out with loads of people. Nothing about any fallout points towards whether they're a paedo or not.

I was following his blog at the time (as a fan) up to when the story broke, and there wasn't anything that sounded at all suspect about his 'defence'. Of course he may have been lying, but everything pointed to him not.

What? :blink::lol:

I think you need to do some serious reading up, from sources other than the accused.

The cops involved said as much (which can also be taken with a pinch of salt).

A fraud investigation at my work led to all laptops being recalled so that they could do a forensic analysis on each of them. I'd had my laptop for years and didn't want them to see what I had viewed (don't worry, I hadn't looked at anything illegal or morally bankrupt). It was more of a liberty issue with me. I consulted a friend about it and he wrote a program which wiped everything clean. I'd love to have been there when they ran their forensic program and discovered there was no history at all there - not even of me having done any work!
