Where's Rolf?

I remember seeing Rolfe at the Pyramid stage way back. I think it may have been a Sunday morning. It was certainly a sunny morning. It was one of my favourite Glastonbury moments. That's gone now. I was never into any of his tv shows, it was just that performance. We all innocently got hooked up. Nobody wins here. I am glad that those people who were abused by him were brave enough to stand up to him and got some sort of justice.

On that day when I saw him perform on stage I also saw him being driven away in a limousine at the point where the bridge is to the far right of the Pyramid stage. I saw the smile on his face as he was driven away and I remember the smile on mine. All tainted now. He's finished. He has lost his place in society, lost his liberty and hopefully will lose a lot of his wealth via civil cases against him. He may even become the sexually abused in prison. And I'm glad he has to deal with that torrent of shit. Those poor girls he abused had the right to a normal life and he took that away. He's a c**t.

And was that guy ever your dad? And who's to say she'd necessarily feel uncomfortable, I don't know enough about the case, so tell me if I'm wrong, but my understanding was that it was requited, and not forced?

On the first point, asset protection is typically a euphemism for tax minimisation. Inheritance tax is a bitch, and a totally unfair tax, wouldn't be unusual for a man of his age to be working on minimising it.

Second point: Average sentence for rape is 8 years. I'd say having consensual sex with a 14/15 year old (which would be legal in many countries, and only a year or two off being legal in this country), with the trial 30 years after the fact, so hard to prove details, isn't worthy of as long a sentence as raping someone, in my opinion.

Ok probably a bit harsh but female friends are very close. Growing up I could always tell if my friends were uncomfortable in a guys company. If they were happy when they were being chatted up or not. I just find it remarkable that she wouldn't have picked up on an uncomfortable vibe at any time.

lol - that's probably as accurate as a woman's view of who they think men find attractive - which is often waaaaay out!

It's a good job for the world that it's not women's hunches that get to decide the truth of things.

You don't know how hard it is for me to resist replying to these inheritance tax posts... :D A separate thread, or at least one that's vaguely related to it, and I'll have a proper debate.

Feel free to start one in the discussions forum (as it's not a Glasto relevant thing), and you'll find at least me to discuss it with. :)

    • Never too early to start discussing next year’s headliners right?   I’m not attending this year so thought I’d get the ball rolling as I saw Weezer have a new album out in August I’d expect them to do this or Slam Dunk next year. I mean they’re probably too big for this however I think they’re niche enough that they would maybe do it, it just depends on if the fee is a bit out of range for trees.    It’ll be the 20th anniversary next year so I’d expect some throwbacks and hopefully some big headliners/acts. James has already said he’s made a mad booking that you wouldn’t guess & I think he mentioned that he’s spent something like 80% of this years budget of next years top line already on last weeks 2 promoters 1 pod (Don’t quote me on that).    I reckon they’ll try for and get at least two (not all) of the following - Enter Shikari, AFI, Weezer, Sex Pistols Feat Frank Carter, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls
    • for some reason last night watched series one of Prey on Netflix.   if Legends was written by Timmy Mallet (see above) then Prey seems to have been made by Mr Blobby.   why are all these British crime dramas so sh*t?
    • It'll be all over various Seatfillers based upon previous years at Sandringham
    • The Jayhawks 2026 UK Tour    Sept 15 – Brighton – Corn Exchange  Sept 16 – London – Electric Ballroom Sept 17 – Manchester – Academy 2 Sept 18 – Glasgow – The Garage    For you ‘americana’ lovers. They have a great song book.
    • Weezer just announced a new album & US tour so could add them to the headliner pool. Imagine they’ll do this or trees
