Getting a ticket

I'm in my late 50's now - use to go to Glastonbury quite regular in the 70's & 80's when you could park car by tent - we would queue for hours in all weathers to get a ticket - but now the last couple of times I've tried on these blasted computers I've got nowhere - I'm waiting for the resale date hoping that there will be some for resale - but I don't think I'm using the Internet correctly - it just seems so unfair - I'm trying so hard to learn the computer, and I thought I was doing ok, until it comes to getting a ticket for Glastonbury - is there any kind of advice you can give me - or the name of somebody who knows what they are doing who can do it for me - I would be really grateful for any kind of advice - many thanks - chelseapaul

I didn't get a ticket for 09,10,11.I thought it might be my internet provider,Plusnet, not being good enough,my friend always got a ticket by going into his work and using the better internet connection so I did the same this year or last October rather and managed to get a ticket,so find somewhere that's got super duper broad band.

There is a re-sale group on facebook where people are joining together to help each other buy tickets, I'm on my phone so can't link at the moment but try searching for it.

I already have tickets but will be on the computer on resale day to see if I can help someone else out.

Use this website. I got tickets this year* because 25 mins after tickets went onsale thanks to someone posting a shortcut on here that got around the queues. Honestly, I think that keeping an eye on the forums here when tickets go on sale is the best way to help secure a ticket.

(*AND this was via a dialup internet connection from a farmhouse in the middle of rural Massachusetts)

I am in a group of 8 friends, so half of us were able to try on the day of the sale, with 1 or 2 also keeping an eye out for tips from this forum, Facebook, Twitter etc. Yes, faster broadband doesn't help when the site's overloaded, but it does help refresh and respond more quickly from my end. I also used Firefox, IE and Chrome, as I think I found my scriptblocker in FF stopped the site, and I went with IE in the end. It will also help if there's someone techie in the group depending on what tips appear on the forums, and how to follow them.

In 2011, I tried all morning, went to church, came back and tried again, to then get a link after 12 noon, with some Facebook help. This year, I got through more quickly, but the tickets also seemed to go more quickly, so whether fewer people got through and bought more tickets on multiple links, or more people got through with hints, I don't know

Try joining some people in a group, and good luck in getting a ticket!

Nope myth, faster broadband doesn't help your refresh/response rates from the server really. Fast has nothing to do with it, unless your on 56k..

Having fiber might improve ping times ever so slightly though as less people in your cabinet are likely to use that line but we are talking milliseconds of difference.

We didnt have any luck on our BT Internet Chrome set up in October, but got a few booking pages open on a HTC Wildfire smartphone. Didn't actually get to try out the booking pages as we had already been kindly sorted out for tickets by our friends in a buying group.

In 2011 we got tickets on our home computer in the second resale, which sold out of tickets in 12 minutes. Coach and ticket packages took a further half an hour or so to sell out.

From our experience in 2011 I understand the OPs frustration of trying to get tickets as solo buyers. Can vouch that group buying is definitely the way to go if you can. Check out some of the resale groups.

I don't understand how a group booking would work on FB or Twitter, surely you have to know these people very well as the person who gets through in the group has to have your credit card details to be able to pay for your ticket.
