Yes I like linkin park but I also like ac dc, much more so in fact. Likings nothing to do with it, it's just common sense. A headliner like linkin park or green day is much more catered to reading, cheaper, and play fests all over the place. Acdc had a 1 off at download which arguable was abit too much having been there, and yes they may say they are thinking about fests, but that wouldn't stop most of the kids not giving a shit and it costing them millions of quid. I'm just going by my opinion here, but that opinion is that talking about Acdc at reading is a waste of time

If that was the case The Cure wouldn't have headlined last year, Sabbath were in talks this year or even AC/DC who were heavily rumoured in the past etc as they all meet the criteria of kids not giving a shit. By your argument of Linkin Park & Green Day are "more catered to reading, cheaper, and play fests all over the place" then they would of headlined in the last 10ish years if they were that likely unless of course there's more to booking headliners than that.

The difference I'd say between sabbath and Acdc are that sabbath have a hyped comeback album coming and Have a history with playing fests. The cure was an odd one sure, but surely Melvin realised that - the crowd was tiny no matter what the set was like. So yes it could happen, I guess logically Acdc are a rock band or legend status so they could headline a rock festival. I just believe its not going to happen - why would they pick reading out of all the fests in the world bar download to play in god knows how long!?

Re green day / linkin park, I just reckon they are more likely because more younger people would have heard their tunes. they had rocky patches between last slots to now, but they have both arguably got better again with their latest no 1 albums - a no 1 rock album which is rare these days and so is obviously popular with some people. Besides I don't doubt that reading has tried to book these bands since anyway, but hasn't managed for whatever reason.

Either way I'm not arguing with you, I'm just voicing how little I believe Acdc are the final headliner

Sabbath don't really have an history of playing other fests, they/Ozzy have their own event Ozzfest which has been used to host them in the past even at other fests. As I've mentioned already FR tried to get them before to the point that AC/DC's website put up dates and they have said they want to play fests again. With Soni is gone and even if it was around it'd probably wouldn't be big enough for them and Download had them recently and already have strong headliners this year it only really leaves R&L as the UK fest they could play. I'm fairly sure Green Day's 3 albums all charted fairly low, in the 30's if I remember correcly and were massively slated by fans and neutrals alike.

    • Yeah I mean first time seeing them sure, I was the same in 2010. Their arena tour got a bit boring, it was like just get on with it. Feeder being in a tent was silly really, there is a difference between being around 4th down on main stage snd then moving that crowd into a tent.

    • I think they'll be playing in a suspended platform, you can see it in their instagram, they've done that before in Lisbon   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZKSRZ1qIDe/   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DP6J4KIjMAG/

    • Some of these games are not warm enough to merit having mid half breaks . We shouldn’t let America change the game just to fit in extra adverts.
