Just realised there's only one month to go! Very exciting. I'm so glad I decided to give myself something like this to look forward to after Glastonbury - usually this is my miserable time of year but I'm just buzzing about Boomtowning!

Hi all sorry if this has been covered before but I'm a Boomtown newbie - has its totally sold out? Me and a couple of mates are keen to go and didn't think we'd have the money so held back for a while. Turns out we are good for the ££ after all and checked website tonight, looks like it's all sold out! Can't see any resale tix on ebay etc so am guessing it's photo ID like Glasto? Website saying there may be more tickets released if some are returned but not sure if this is likely or not. Anyone got any opinion as to whether we are f****d?! Cheers :-D

I went last year - when I wasn't working and it was the wife's first festival off in 10 years, we loved it, and would prefer to keep the memory of that rather than have to work it this year. I don't think Neil is going either.

hi. what's the security like out of interest? can i expect the queues to be really long because they're being overly pedantic with it?

it's normally the case at that site that the police make every entrant walk past "sniffer" dogs.

(I'm not actually sure that they're sniffer dogs; if they are I know from the past that their sniffing abilities aren't up to much, but that doesn't get to mean that you'll walk past them without being pulled out for a further search).

ah right ok, that's fine, i was just wondering if they would be searching so much that it made the queues last forever!

I've not been to matterley bowl for about 10 years (tho have heard more recently they're still doing the dogs thing) - and back then, for Homelands (which was a one day dance fest of the same size as Boomtown) the queues could take an hour or so if you arrived at the busiest times.

I'd guess that the arrivals for Boomtown are a little more spread out (as it's a fest over more days), so perhaps the queues don't get quite as long.

i am presuming my friend can get his 'cigarettes' from inside?

I'd have thought he's more likely to get cooking ingredients. Parsley, etc.

Boomtown has been at the Matterley Bowl now for two years! The first year it was there, the queues were horrendous! Last year however there wasnt really a queue at all - we got straight through and that was around midday on the Thursday!

Its bit of an uphill trek from the carparks but if it was anything like last year - it really wasnt bad at all!

Its all very different to how Homelands was back in the day! :)

How strict are they with id ? My passport is invalid, (bought when I was 8yrs, I dont drive. I'm 20 & I look over 18 but what are the chances I will be stopped ? If I get stopped, will they be strict or will I be able to explain ?

Still heavily suspecting two from the Manchester Friday reggae event...so Barrington Levy, John Holt or Freddie Mcgregor to play Lions Den on Saturday...

then I hope it's Levy or Holt, as I've seen Freddie.

(though some Marleys would be great if that old rumour was still true)

we've been told it isn't, tho it's always possible we were being told porkies.

    • When are  the stage splits ??
    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
