See Tickets

Ive been a lurker on this forum for a while but something has come up which infuriated me that much ive signed up to vent my spleen

Does anyone know what the deal is why See Tickets? The reason I ask is for the last couple of years 2 girls in my local area have been able to obtain tickets long after T day. Both work with (Indirectly im led to believe) SeeTickets – and have in the past charged £300 per ticket (Making £100 each ticket in the process)

The tickets are 100% legit – all they need is your registration number and postcode. Last year they got a friend of mine one and I know a few others in my area they’ve got tickets for. Not a bad thing to fall back on you may say if you don’t get a ticket, and up until this year I was thinking the same.

3 of my close friends never got a ticket this year so naturally we’ve been in contact with these two girls and now they are asking for £400 per ticket – clearly cashing in on the high demand knowing full well they can make a killing. Does anyone know what the deal is and how these type of people can rob genuine people of tickets.

Maybe See get a small allocation for being some kind of official partner, as I'd imagine that a number of companies/organizations do? How they then distribute their allocation is up to them I guess. I doubt it's anything like the viagogo scam.

Sounds like they simply get access in the internal See system to tickets allocated but the deposit bounced. These obviously should go back into the resale in April, but unscrupulous employees are not unheard of.

Rather than taking advantage of such an offer, they should be reported to See, GFL and possibly the police (if there is a possibility of fraud or illegal touting). Otherwise this would likely escalate in future years and fewer tickets would be available for everyone else.

Sounds pretty dodgy. I would have thought if SeeTickets discovered an employee (be they directly or indirectly employed by See) was selling Glastonbury tickets on at a profit it would be a breach of their contract and probably a sackable offence

However desperate I am for tickets for 2013, isn't this just another form of touting?! Making money by selling a ticket for double face value?

I'd be thinking quite seriously about reporting them to GFL & making a complaint to See I think.

Ive thought of reporting them, but a few friends are still considering getting tickets

If I did report them, and those lads I know didnt get ticket in the resale, I'd rather not have it on my conscience it was down to me that they never got a ticket

I think it would be pretty ironic if the whole system through ST was set up to stop touting and then find out that ST employees are making a huge profit by reducing the tickets supposed to go into the resale and taking advantage of peeps paying stupid money for a GF ticket. £400??? Seriously? I wouldn't.

I think there's a difference between the tickets coming from See getting an allocation of tickets outside of the general for being an official partner and giving them their employees to do whatever they want with and See employees deliberately going into the resale pot early to buy tickets using other people's registration numbers and charging them for the privledge. Admittedly it now seems that the latter is the case, I'm amazed that people at See are even able to do this without sales being flagged up.

I understand the desire to get tickets, even taking a hit of £100 to £200 or more in the process, if you missed out in the general sale.

But the principle remains that as long as people are willing to buy those touted tickets then the touts and scammers will continue to flourish. Likewise, if you buy a stolen bike at half its market value you are encouraging more bike thefts.

edit: I spelled "principle" as "principal"!

I understand the principal of this but it never works out that way. There are always underhand tactics used with ticket sales. Lots of people buy tickets who have no intention of using them now to every gig/festival going so that they can sell them on for an inflated price. I have always bought my tickets through the proper process but as desperate as I am and judging by the way the genral sale went a couple of weeks ago, I dont rate my chances very highly of getting a ticket come the resale day. And if I dont go I will be properly gutted. At this moment in time I would pay a bit more just to know that I am going.

    • Very probable. I was a bit surprised by the crowd I saw in the video they drew, and I say that as a big feeder fan. I thought they’d draw a really good sized crowd but it looked rows deep. Chuffed for them though. Still think they’re a great band after all these years.  Rumours at they’re doing a Polythene tour next year too.
    • It sounds like Feeder drew a crowd too big for that stage originally. Given the time period they haven’t appeared at Download as well it's a nostalgia thing. Halestorm vs Feeder wasn't the most ideal but leaving after either to get out would have been sweet at least.
    • You cant see everything unfortunately, it would be Halsey there for me 100%, the last 20/25 of Gorillaz. Halsey would be my non negotiable act on that day myself. Oddly Bleech 9:3 would actually give me an option I wouldn't mind between 3:15pm and Halsey. Dogstar would only likely be a 10 minutes thing of I've seen Keanu lol.
    • I think the tent was just right for Feeder, on that day anyway.   If you had a Biffy-esque day again, or someone of that ilk (maybe Pearl Jam for example), whack them on that main stage. 100%.    As it is, I think feeder will be back and probably high up the second stage or main stage next year or 2028.
    • I think we still have 2 acts to announce each day, maybe one more big name to complete the lineup?   Perhaps the big name is Turnstile on Thursday, which isn't sold out yet. And some other names that could be added like Iceage, Band of Horses or Tomora.
