you turn up at the box office, or book on line, and present the evidence they ask for to demonstrate that you are unwaged (proof that you're a student, in receipt of JSA or whatever it might be). It's not complicated - theatres etc have been doing it for decades....

Perhaps because they don't have an audience of 150,000, the admin alone would take money away from good causes and there would definitely be loopholes to exploit. I also agree with the above that a £20-£30 discount is not going to be enough of an incentive for an unemployed person to change their mind.

I'm not sure I really care, to be honest. If you can demonstrate that you are unwaged that would be good enough for me. It's a festival we're talking about, not access to social housing or something important....

200 nicker is around double the amount what you'd pay for a week camping elsewhere.

And that 'double the amount' is covered by the experience and sheer amount of groups

you can see play.

It really isn't too much to pay is it?

Big Chill was around 160, Hop Farm 180, and so on.

This is longer, bigger, and the quality and quantity of music is better. imho.

Well, yes they do actually...unlike Glastonbury, Sadlers Wells is open virtually every night of the year.

Yes, there would be loopholes, but in the scheme of things is that important?

My argument isnt that there should be a 30 quid discount for the unwaged. My beef is with those who say either that it is too difficult to organise (it demonstrably isnt) or the Daily Mail brigade who want the unemployed to sit in a dark room and never smile....

I just think it's pointless saying that it doesn't matter if the system is abused or that you don't care if there are loopholes. It just smacks of a bunch of chin-strokers sitting around and congratulating each other for being decent human beings and showing compassion when in reality the system potentially gives very little benefit to the 'deserving' and 'needy'. It's almost as if the ability to say that Glastonbury does this and the sense of satisfaction that comes along with it is more important than whether it actually helps the people that it's supposed to.
