T in the Park made me.....

Ash in the rain in '99 were excellent, although Travis got all the attention for their well timed Why does it always rain on me on the other stage at the same time. Rain does mostly spoil an outdoor gig for me, but sometimes it can add to the atmosphere.

Had an interesting talk with an ice cream selller at Latitude about T in The Park, didn't warm me to ever going there haha! He said at one point there were at least 15 people p***ing against his van and a few who were not just p***ing. Eurrrrgh!! He said by far it is the worst festival to work at these days. I think Latitude was a bit of a shock in a nice way for him tbh, so many pleasant people!

Last time I went to T was 2008. It's been Glasto ever since!

I really enjoyed the earlier Ts, but the line up got more and more repetitive (Kasabian, Snow Patrol, Killers, King of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs...) with all this dancey pop thrown in alongside a chav-ier audience.

I've heard horror stories from this year, my mate had a Sunday day ticket and his day started on the bus over from Edinburgh with a girl tanking a bag of wine before trying to urinate in a sandwich bag. The inevitable stream of urine flowing up and down the bus soaked someone's jacket as the girl shouted from the back "I've had two wee ains, my bladder isnae what it used tae be!". Classy! He then witnessed a bit of a punch up during Chase & Status as people were dragged in to mosh pits and ended up in the mud. Sounded like the festival apocolypse.

Never thought Elbow were a band for T, I could just imagine lots of wee radges waiting at the front for Kasabian shouting "here we, here we, here we effin go".

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. TITP is by far the worst festival I've been to for people just pissing and shitting everywhere and we're not just talking men here, girls happily just squatting against a fence doing a shit. Could be a good marketing tool if they're looking to attract people with piss or poo fetishes. :phew:

    • went to their album launch show last night at the george tavern. it was fantastic! absolutely roasting in there though
    • I got mine yesterday but they sent the wrong ticket link, so had to email Ticketmaster and get the right one.    As for predictions, hard to see who else could do the Pulp/Sting/Byrne slot other than the Cure, and since they did Isle of Wight they maybe have an FR deal (Sting did both). It’s also the Cure’s 50th next year so imagine they’ll be doing a bigger tour. Pet Shop Boys or Kylie maybe?   Wolf Alice would be a dream. It’ll probably all be men again though.
    • Probably a couple of months yet....last ticket sale announcement was 10th October 2024.
    • watched Mystic River for the first time, overall i thought it was superb.   good shows from the three leads, well made, interesting and pretty solid all round.   a minor character moan tho - i thought the "Savage brothers" were ridiculous, they were like cartoon villains and kinda took  you out of the movie abit with their dastardly antics.   also, i hated, and i mean i HATED the ending.   there is a scene where Kevin Bacon is talking to Sean Penn in the morning after the night everything happens, and he says to him "when did you last see Dave"... then we get a close up of Sean Penns face, and you can see the cogs going round and he is struggling to decide what he is going to say... if the screen had cut to black at that moment it would have been the perfect ending... everything that happens after that is totally pointless and just detracts from the great movie you have just seen.   but i liked it. can't actually believe i never saw it before.   🙂
    • I’ve also got a media contact who gets hospitality tickets, he says their allocation of them is slightly reduced this year. The few Off site ultra expensive glamping/hospitality ticket packages mostly sold out a while ago. Some just after the 2025 festival ended.
