Can we please discuss Chic's epic performance yesterday?

Surely a great moment in the festival's history? I've never felt such a good atmosphere during an act at a festival. It was a hit laden set and the band seemed really tight as a unit.

"THESE ARE MA SAWNGS. CHIC AIN'T NO COVER BAND!!" - Nile Rodgers, Rockness, 10th June 2012

Nile & Chic were incredible.

For the first time ever, I had to abuse my production wristband and run backstage to shake his hand before he was swiftly escorted away.

I'm not sure many people realise just how big that back catalogue is. They got a nice surprise. Tight as F. And a fun ( orchestrated) stage invasion at the end.

More the true king of pop than any other more obvious claimants.

Thankfully my eyesight is sufficiently bad not to have led me into a "security situation". ;)

Nile looked a bit surprised to have some random almost chase for the handshake, but it was safely clear of arrestable. :)

I really hope Channel Four put up as much of the set as they'll be allowed. Good Times.

I had to explain to a lot of my mates who Chic were and how much of a legend Rodgers is. The majority of them stayed in the campsite while a few came through for food while they played. Only after when me and a mate told them how good they were did they go, "They wrote and performed all of those songs? We just thought it was a DJ warming up the crowd."

I hate people my age.

really glad to hear they went down a storm, have seen them a few times in recent years and have always been fantastic, and I'll be seeing them in a month or so.

But at Bestival a couple of years ago, I was shocked by how few people were interested in them, knew who they were, or who even knew the songs - I thought people would at least know what they were playing. But no.

I knew who Chic were but had no real interest in seeing them but we happened to be near by when they were playing as we went to get food up by the main stage and thank God we did as they were phenomenal! Had a look through my pics yesterday and couldn't help feeling that the audience should have been bigger, a lot of people missed out big style.

Best set of the weekend for me! Was exactly what Rockness used to be all about! Getting the party atmosphere going and everyone just having a right good time! I seen more fights at this Rockness than I had at all the previous ones combined. Even had a guy threaten to pull a knife on another boy during Deadmau5. We don't need this at this great festival!

    • I found the vibe a little different to recent editions.. definitely an older crowd, less queer, less Spanish.. certainly has something to do with the lack of Glastonbury this year. And I felt Saturday was a little overcrowded. I‘ve never seen Mordor as full as last night for the xx and Gorillaz. Did not enjoy that too much.
    • Not my favourite year either, despite liking the lineup more than previous years. Not sure what it was, I guess Thursday really put the brakes on things. But yeah I'll be back next year hopefully. And maybe Massive Attack will return...
    • E-mail summarizing Saturday - Primavera Sound 2026 Journal Day 3. As in previous days, it's going to be on the website soon, I think.
    • I was surprised as well. I met more than 20 different people on both Friday and Saturday that had come in reusing QR codes.
